Background
Marcus is a young metalhead from Detroit. Deaf from birth, he shied away from people, especially groups, who made him uncomfortable because of the difficulty talking to them. Marcus discovered metal and learned he could feel the music when it was loud enough or close enough. This didn't endear the genre to his father, but his dad tolerated the music because it was only this and camping that seemed to make Marcus happy. Dad even bought Marcus a bass for his birthday, and has regretted it ever since.
