A Superheroic Soap Opera

Background Information

Santa Francis - The city by the Bay. The city that never sleeps. Home to the Schandalere family for the last 120 years. The Schandaleres are among the elite of Santa Francis society - and Society at large, at least in the USA. Wealthy, beautiful - captains of industry and gods and goddesses of Theatre, TV and Film on more than one occasion.

They also possess Power. Not just political, though some members of the clan do go in that direction. Not industrial. No, they have true Power-with-a-capital-p.

They are, almost all of them, meta-humans or sorcerers. Those who don't have the ability to cast spells or destroy things with a thought still seem to get something - some dramatic intelligence, leading them to create technology that no one else can even understand, to Medical, Psychological or Scientific genius.

In short, they're blessed.

They're also cursed, some would say.

In the six generations they have lived in Santa Francis, there've been invasions from space, from other dimensions, and from the living dead. They've had scandals (From the no longer outre inter-racial marriage of Hillary Schandalere, to the six wives (at once) of Marcus Schandalere. More recently, Harrison Schandalere was found to be the father of at least three children by adultery, and one of them, Melinda Mason (she's never taken the family name) has been embroiled in nude photo scandals.

Add to that a long running feud with the Rulet crime family. Well, the Schandaleres and the newspapers call them that. The Authorities shy away from that, because, while individual Rulets have been apprehended, no one's ever tied their actions to the family as a whole. The Schandaleres have been trying for nearly as long as they've been in Santa Francis, and the Rulets have been trying to make a profit while avoiding too much scrutiny for just as long.

Into this mix come the PCs - children or allies of the Schandaleres, ready to try to out the Rulets, push back alien invasions or just affect street crime, and make their own mistakes and scandals.
