A <b>Player character</b> (usually abbreviated as [[PC]]) is a [[character]] controlled by one of the [[players]].  Player characters are the protagonists of the game and it is their [[adventure]]s that [[role-playing game]]s are all about.  In most cases, a [[player]] will control only one player character, but some games encourage players to have more than one character.  An example of this would be the [[troupe style]] of play featured in <i>[[Ars Magica]]</i>.
