Rudd Moorstrider (human male), Cleric 6th level

Physical Notes

Human male, age 21

Height: 5'6" (167,5 cm), Weight: 150 lbs. (68 kg), brown eyes, maple brown hair.

Rudd is of average height and light of build. Although he is in good shape physically, he does not have that much body mass. That does make him rather light on his feet. He dresses in dark green tunic and breeches with his gifted armor over it, and wears calf length boots of brown leather. His face still looks a bit boyish and youthful, except for facial hair that he allows to grow but keeps trimmed short. The hair on his head he allows to grow to his shoulders.

HISTORY

Rudd was born into a family of rangers. The Moorstriders. From early age, his parents taught him about nature. How to move in it, how to survive in it, how to respect and revere it. Rudd particularly took to the latter. His parents felt the spirituality of nature and paid homage to Ehlonna as many rangers do, but for them it was about respect and duty rather than deep devotion. They protected the wilderness but ultimately served their community. But Rudd felt the call to serve something greater. His parents had expected him to follow them in their profession, but it slowly became obvious that Rudd felt drawn to a different path. So they did not object when he eventually stated his wish to join the priesthood of Ehlonna.

Rudd was trained as a priest in a remote forest shrine along with some other disciples. At the beginning it was not so dissimilar to ranger training. In fact, he found the early training much easier than the other disciples, most of whom were from villages and had not been raised by rangers. Later on, the training started to include different things. Meditation exercises, academic lore, religion and cosmology, and eventually the channeling of divine power as Clerical spells. Still, Rudd's early childhood education served him well and he started outpacing the other students, some of whom were still struggling with the basics. Eventually the priest of the shrine, an elf named Sylvar, started giving Rudd private tuition to keep pace with his progress, and even had him tutor some of the other disciples in basics.

At last the day came when Rudd was ordained into the priesthood. After the ceremony Sylvar called Rudd to him and said: "Your skills have become great for someone of such a young age. But no doubt the challenges you will face in your path shall be just as great." Retrieving a suit of unusually light chainmail from a chest in his quarters Sylvar stated. "You are more lithe than most humans. I think this will fit you. You should take it. I have no need to wear it here, and an item such as this was not meant to be stored away. Wear it with pride, and may it help you in your future challenges."

After departing the shrine with his gift as a journeyman cleric, Rudd at first wandered aimlessly, giving aid to people in need that he met, but felt uncertain about his course. Offering aid to travelers or small communities struck by injury, illness or misfortune was a good thing to do and made him happy, but there was little challenge in it, and his mentor had hinted that his abilities were meant for something more. What should he do?

Then Rudd heard of a plea for aid from a Duchy beset by rampaging giants. Surely this was what he had been meant for.
