Episode I - THE TRAITOR’S GAMBIT

<ariel>It is a dark time in the galaxy. The evil

Galactic Empire has spread from the Deep Core to the

Outer Rim, and everywhere the Empire’s tyranny can be felt by all.

Fleeing from the oppression of the Emperor’s

minions, agents of Senator Bail Organa have run to a

remote space station above Brentaal. Known to be a vocal opponent

of the Empire, Bail Organa may be the last hope of freedom in the galaxy.

In the hopes of stopping these dissidents

before they can reach the Senator, the Empire has

alerted its forces on Sel-Zonn Spacestation, where the struggle

for liberty rages on, and the first sparks of rebellion have begun to burn...

SETTING

The game is set in the time of the Empire, some 10 years after it was formed. There is no formal rebellion as of yet, only a few rumors of terrorist acts, sedition and a few traitors to the Emperor.

The game starts in the Core World System of Brentaal[2]. The planet of Brentaa IV has dozens of large space-platforms in orbit over it, including the Sel-Zonn Station[3], a XQ2-type Space Platform, where the heroes have all recently arrived at.

Though it still sees a great deal of traffic from Brentaal and from hyperspace travelers, the Empire has allowed large sections of the station to languish and fall apart. Thanks to the rise of anti-alien sentiment, especially on the Core Worlds, the more run-down sections of Sel-Zonn Station are now inhabited by aliens. As such, a rift divides the station—wealthy, privileged Human Imperial loyalists occupy the nicer sections of the station, while all others are relegated to worn and sometimes dangerous secondary sections.

Dispite all this Sel-Zonn Station does have a reputation of not harrashing non-humans as the other stations and many flock here for the relative peace they enjoy. Security forces are a bit lighters although there are still Brentaal Planetary Police[4] on the station along with a few Imperial Navy Troopers[5]. It is rumored that there are is a high securty area where a dozen or so elite Imperial Storm Troopers are stationed but they are not seen by non-Imeperials (at least not in uniform).

The Brentaal system itself sits on the intersection of the Hydian Way and the Perlemian Trade Route, two of the galaxy's major hyperlanes.
