Chancel_Amyra
Chapter 10

BethE: Brian tried reverse psychology on...have you heard of the game Portal?
Etheric: Heard of, never played. Is it correct you need Half-Life 2 to play it?
Random_Nerd: No.
Random_Nerd: It's the same engine, but it's a separate game.
Etheric: Ah, okay.
Etheric: The box said "Half-Life 2 mod" so I assumed I would need the original game.
Random_Nerd: Although, if you don't have HL2 and you want to get Portal, it'd be best to get the Orange Box. It's a great deal given all the stuff in it.
Random_Nerd: Oh, and Laz is having computer issues at the moment.
BethE: There, the last log is up in the wiki. Session 85
Etheric: I thought it was only available in the orange box.
Random_Nerd: It's available separately, at least through Steam.
Etheric: That's the one I was talking about, that had the "HL2 mod" notation on it.
Random_Nerd: Hmm. Let me check.
Etheric: Well, I'll look that box over again.
Etheric: For crying out loud... I was -sure- I bookmarked that wiki last time and it's not there!
BethE: Basically Attaris separated part of herself to come and talk to us...and this part was sarcastic, snarky and petulant. And in the end said we could make up all sorts of rumors about the end of the world, that if Anaka dies, it will start the Cat. and that she didn't kill all of Dante's friends and family.
BethE: (Link: http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Chancel_Amyra)http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Chancel_Amyra
Etheric: Also, Eve's irritated reaction, as best as I recall, was at Attaris and not at Theresa.
BethE: Ahhh.
Etheric: And thanks for the link.
BethE: Of course!  :)
Etheric: Okay, one good thing came of that. We know that the cataclysm is coming no matter what, and we know that killing Ananda would trigger it, unless Attaris changes her mind.
Random_Nerd: Hmm. If Knock doesn't show and Laz can't get his computer working reliably, we may have to cancel.
Etheric: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
Etheric: Give it 10 minutes?
Random_Nerd: Oh, and one correction. According to the deal with the bit of Attaris, you're /obligated/ to make up rumors about what cataclysm is coming.
Random_Nerd: That's about what I was thinking.
BethE: I've got a rumor. ^^
BethE: I hear that the Cat. will start once the Power of Love proposes to Entropy.
BethE: Oh and btw, is it possible for an Imperator to act against his/her code?
Random_Nerd: Yes.
Random_Nerd: But they lose MPs in the normal way.
Random_Nerd: And they don't like it much.

      • Knockwood has joined #nobilis.

Knockwood: Konbanwa
Knockwood: ...what kind of 'puter trouble?
BethE: Hi Knock.
Etheric: Something about... Actually, let me check my IM logs.
Random_Nerd: Hey.
Random_Nerd: He said the fan on his laptop isn't reliably working.
Knockwood: ick.

      • You are now known as Theresa.

Knockwood: long as we're talking about absent players, any word on sara?
Random_Nerd: Doing somewhat better, wants to come back, can't yet.
Theresa: She hasn't been able to come back to any of the games quite yet.
Knockwood: BTW, my latest message board masterpiece: (Link: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=363294)http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=363294
Knockwood: she has, what, a neurological problem?
Theresa: Nope, nothing House-related.
Knockwood: oh, Lupus.
Random_Nerd: *cough*It'sNeverLupus*cough*
Theresa: Blood/digestion.
Knockwood: I played for a while with a lady who hd some condition in which her body over-produced cerebrospinal fluid... which tended to ... squish things.
Theresa: Interesting idea, Knock.
Theresa: Ouch.
Knockwood: yeah, that and the 3 (IIRC) kids made life fun.
Random_Nerd: Well, it's not clear if Laz will be back and able to play, but we have most of the group here.
Random_Nerd: Anything else before we start?

      • Knockwood is now known as DanteE.

Theresa: I think I'm ready. A little slow, but ready.
Etheric: I should be up for it, or some reasonable facsimile thereof.
DanteE: I think I'm ready....
Etheric: With all this thinking, we should start an academy!
Random_Nerd: Okay. Any objection to starting the scene in the wreckage of your suite?
Etheric: None here.
DanteE: is Shadows still here?
Theresa: No, he had left early in the conversation.
DanteE: that doesn't necessarily mean he's not here, y'know
Theresa: True.
Random_Nerd: There are shadows in the room, but he's not physically present.
Random_Nerd: Okay, starting.
Random_Nerd: ___________________________________START_________________________________
DanteE: "SO, _now_ we have enough to get Barakiel to renounce his plan, I think...
DanteE: (Oh, is Carrie or Eve here?)
Random_Nerd: It's a nice, fancy, set of rooms. Except for the big hole in the wall, ditch in the floor, shrapnel in the walls, and tattered bits of couch.
Random_Nerd: (I think that Carrie had been there before you started, but Etheric was not there for the session with the talk. Is that correct, Etheric?"
Random_Nerd: )
Theresa: (Demon blood too.)
DanteE: "If we're going to keep doing this kind of damage, we should start a rock band."
Theresa: "Did we get all of Shadow's knifesword?"
DanteE: (OBTW, what was the nature of the preservation on it?)
Random_Nerd: William: "I've gotten most of it. There are bits stuck in the wall, and bits of metal dust too small to really pick up, but I have the bulk of it on that table there."
Etheric: (Eve was there during the talk and is here now. Sorry.)

      • Etheric is now known as Eve.

Random_Nerd: (On the sword? It was a Realm-based lesser preservation to make it more durable and hold an edge better.)
DanteE: (Ah. I was wondering if it was a Domain of Blades thing. :)
Random_Nerd: (Nope.)

      • Mode change "+o DanteE" for channel #nobilis by Eve.

DanteE: "... ah, Hope? Can you talk to your ... er, Carrie's parents and check if something ... interesting arrived back home?"

  • Theresa will create one of the healing leaves from her tree back home and apply it to Lesson's wound.

Random_Nerd: (Brian did a Realm div last session to check that, didn't he?)

  • Eve considers this quietly.

DanteE: (What caused the floor groove, BTW?)
Random_Nerd: (Shadows, skidding to a stop.)
DanteE: (Ah)
DanteE: "Shadows, you with us?"
Theresa: (Aspect shoes!)
Random_Nerd: (He used enough Aspect to project himself very quickly through the wall, but not enough that he could just handwave the inertia.)

  • DanteE works on reassembling the sword...

Random_Nerd: Samuel: "You know, it's odd. She seemed crazy, but it almost seemed fake."
Theresa: "How are you doing, Lesson? Fake in what way, Sam?"
DanteE: "Fake?"
Random_Nerd: S: "Like the difference between a Batman villain and an actual person with brain problems."
Random_Nerd: S: "Or am I wrong? Was she talking like the way a mentally ill human might?"

  • Eve raises an eyebrow. "I agree with that. Like she's trying too hard to project the appearance. I hadn't considered it until now."

DanteE: (OK, as a Psych graduate, I would know. Evaluation of her actions?)
Random_Nerd: W: "I'm not sure. After all, with a Magister of the Wild, we're talking about an intellegence that doesn't even meaningfully have a physical basis."
DanteE: "Now that you mention it..."
Random_Nerd: (Hmm. You using any Aspect, or just mundane thinking?)
Theresa: "Hmm. I thought it was more like a concentrated form of a part of personality. Like how we're supposed to be part of Kudzu's personality. Imagine if you took all of the snark and sarcasm of an ancient being and concentrated it into a tiny cube..."
DanteE: (Aspect 2 Figuring Shit Out! :D )
Random_Nerd: S: "Then you'd get something I would not want to stand near."

  • Theresa smiles. "And in fact, you were in the other room."

Random_Nerd: (Okay, she didn't sound like a genuinely mentally ill human not playing a part. You don't have enough information about Imperators to compare her to sane and insane ones of them, if the concepts are meaningful.)
Theresa: (And plus, Wildlord, so the answer is fish.)
Random_Nerd: W: "I don't even really understand what sort of being a Magister of the Wild really is."
Random_Nerd: S: "I don't think they know, either."
DanteE: "Well, she's a WildLord, so my assessment is ... Fish."
DanteE: (Thanks Theresa. :) )
Theresa: "A creature from outside of the Wall to whom sanity is not only a dirty word but an outright effront."
Theresa: "Hmm..I wonder if that's why Kudzu likes humanity. We're sort of a like. We don't know our potential and the Wildlords have forgotten what they could have been."
Eve: "Actually, Lord Kudzu seemed to say before that Sanity is a prison, but there are worse..."
Eve: "He named one form of madness thus."
Random_Nerd: S: "Oh?"
Eve: "I wish I recalled the context..."
DanteE: (HOw much of the sword do we have?)
Random_Nerd: (About 90%. 95% if you got plyers or used Aspect to get the shards stuck in the wall.)
Theresa: (Can I use Aspect to recall what Eve is talking about or was that a private moment?)
Random_Nerd: (Hmm. I'm trying to recall which conversation that was.)

  • DanteE pulls pieces out of the wall (Asp 2)

Eve: (It was the one where he offered to turn her into a boat, iirc.)
Eve: (Though they might have been different ones, but close to that one at the very least.)
Eve: (Pre-Eve also. Remember they share all their memories.)

  • DanteE re-creates the sword (with an included Pres) once we have as much as we can get...

Theresa: (*finds log*)
Theresa: (In here, Eth? (Link: http://forum.rpg.net/showpost.php?p=6775437&postcount=92)http://forum.rpg.net/showpost.php?p=6775437&postcount=92 )
Random_Nerd: (Okay. Now, I believe he talked about people who were insane and who didn't understand how to deal with being insane, and who caused irreperable damage to themselves or others because they couldn't control themselves.)
Random_Nerd: (With the example of the Serpent who, under the influence of Hell-tainted sap, triggered the fall of humanity.)
Random_Nerd: (So, he was talking less about intrinsically harmful forms of madness, and more like...)
Theresa: ("This is why experience with madness is so /important/. A lifetime of sanity leaves one soft and weak.")
Random_Nerd: (Hmm. Like how someone using hallucinogenic drugs will react differently to a bad trip if they have experience with such drugs, compared to if they're using them for the first time.)
DanteE: "So... are we ready to talk to Barakiel?"
Eve: (I looked that log over. It was in fact a different one. I believe close by chronologically, though.)
Random_Nerd: S: "I don't know. From what I've heard, he sounds genuinely crazy. As in, it's like he has delusions and manias, and he reworks his view of the world to fit them."
Random_Nerd: L: "He's an Angel. That's how they are."
Random_Nerd: William says, quietly, "Power justifies itself."
Eve: "Do you have experience with Angels, Lesson... other than Barakiel?"
Random_Nerd: L: "Some. And talked with other demons."
Random_Nerd: L: "Believe that they think like... okay. So if you're weak, and the big guy with the big stick says you do something, you have to do it, or you get beat down."
Random_Nerd: L: "But if you're strong and you have a bigger stick, you don't have to listen."
Random_Nerd: L: "Angels are like that. They're strong, and reality's the big guy with the stick."
Random_Nerd: L: "Problem is, they really are that strong, at least sometimes."

  • Eve looks amused. "So Reality keeps striking them, and they strike back?"

Random_Nerd: L: "It's all about conflict and dominance. You find someone or something, and you and it test each other."
Random_Nerd: L: "And the loser, if it's alive, does what the winner says."
Random_Nerd: L: "But think they do /everything/ like that."
Eve: "'Reality' isn't exactly known for its listening comprehension skills."
Random_Nerd: L: "But an Angel has a really big stick."
Theresa: "Imperators rewrite reality..."
Random_Nerd: W: "As I understand it, they /write/ reality."
Random_Nerd: W: "The actions of Imperators aren't a thing that changes reality, they /are/ reality."
Theresa: "True, it's just that reality may not be the same from moment to moment."
DanteE: "Then again... there was a proto-Hope before Kudzu crossed the wall, right?"
Random_Nerd: (Yes, there was.)
Random_Nerd: L: "Don't know if it's possible to talk an Angel around. They don't respect facts as facts. Somebody says a reason an Angel is wrong, that's not a thing they have to change their thinking around. It's an enemy. If they're powerful enough, they don't have to acknowledge it."
Theresa: "Sounds very familiar from our last talk."
Random_Nerd: L: "Been reading, and think that's why they hate the other Angels. Because they beat the Angels I know. So every day, when they see themselves in Hell, they have to remember when they came up against something stronger."
DanteE: "Are you saying we /can't/ change Barakiel's mind? If that's true we might as well go home."
Random_Nerd: L: "No. Not saying that. Saying to change his mind, you don't just have to be right. You have to be stronger, or have support that's stronger."
Random_Nerd: L: "The truth is strong, but I don't know if it's stronger than an Angel."
Eve: "Then we need..."
Eve: "William, what unFallen Angels have Chancels close by?"
Random_Nerd: L: "They scare me. They still do. You... I think I understand you. You're much stronger than I am, but you're still people. Something like me could become something like you, if things happened right."
Eve: "If we can get the Angel of Justice or Jugement on our side, we might have a chance."
Random_Nerd: W: "Hmm. None on Jupiter. They recognize that Barakiel has authority over it that none of his falls have removed."
Theresa: (... Darn it, RN, not so soon after rereading the sniffly Kudzu-stuff...)
Eve: "What about in the general region that Earth is in?"
Eve: "With Estates dealing with justice or authority?"

  • Theresa says softly, "Thank you, Lesson."

Random_Nerd: W: "There are Angels on Earth. Dozens."
DanteE: (Are you steering us toward Lord You-Know-Who?)
Random_Nerd: (Hmm. Interesting.)
Random_Nerd: W: "But are you asking for an Angel who'll come here and pick a fight with another Angel, in his own world?"
Eve: "No, not a fight."
Eve: "An endorsement."
Eve: "Barakiel needs to be convinced he's wrong. He's -not- completely unwilling to compromise -- he follows both Heaven and Hell even though they conflict -- but he has no reason now to -do so-.
DanteE: "We just got word on the schedule from Attaris. Who else can we talk to?"
Eve: "Someone who Barakiel has faceed before and knows to respect."
DanteE: "... Kudzu?
Eve: "We should do it judiciously -- if we simply tell the other Angel what's up, it would look like a betrayal."
DanteE: "He was asking us to elicit his help."
Eve: "The thing is that Barakiel already has his mind made up. Some other Angel might not."
DanteE: "We don't know any other angels...
Random_Nerd: L: "Believe that Barakiel was kicked out of Heaven. Not with the other Angels, but in the same sort of way. That means that someone kicked him out."
DanteE: "unless they signed the guest book for the Caer Tour."
Random_Nerd: L: "And so, must be afraid of either that Angel, that group of Angels, or... not sure. Social elements? Disfavor of Heaven?"
Eve: "I didn't say someone we -already knew.- That's where our Aides come in."
Theresa: "Do the Aides or the Library know who kicked Barakiel out?"
Random_Nerd: W: "Hmm. If we don't, we can find out. Heaven keeps records of its judicial decisions. But it would take a Noble who's sworn to Heaven's code to go up and look at them for us."
Eve: "Brian."
Random_Nerd: (Brian's double-Wild, isn't he?)
Eve: (I'm almost positive he's Heaven first, Wild second.)
DanteE: "What's Consequences' code?"
Theresa: (I thought he was double-wild.)
Random_Nerd: W: "Let me think... I know his pattern..."
Eve: (Ask las next time I suppose.)
Random_Nerd: W: "Oh, yeah, it's a weird one. I drew on it for drawing up yours, actually. He follows both Heaven and Hell."
Eve: "Like his boss."
Random_Nerd: W: "But it's not imposed on him the way yours are."
Random_Nerd: S: "Weird. I never would have pegged Consequences as a head-case the way his boss is."
Theresa: (I think we have Lights but not Heavens.)
Random_Nerd: (Huh. Brian is indeed Heaven. Shows what I know.)
DanteE: "Hold on... the Library says Consequences follows Heaven."
Theresa: (Huh. I thought he was double Wild. Double-huh.)
DanteE: (AP thread, post #26)
Random_Nerd: W: "Well, he does."
Theresa: "How can he follow both?
Theresa: "
Random_Nerd: S: "Hell if we know. Err, so to speak."
Random_Nerd: W: "I don't believe they're technically at odds... you just have to believe, in some way, that corruption and beauty are the same thing."
DanteE: "Shouldn't the Library have told us if he follows both?"
Random_Nerd: W: "I don't know. I don't know how it works."
Random_Nerd: W: "Let me see here..."

  • Theresa ponders. "It could be possible. I mean, the whole double-viewpoint of this Chancel makes it easier because everything is both beautiful _and_ corrupted."

Random_Nerd: William touches his ear-sphere.
Random_Nerd: S: "And the things that make it beautiful in one world correspond to the corruption..."
DanteE: (Ah, here we go--AP post 87: [lazarus] Yes. My own code is Heaven. But there's a strange meld of that and the Wild - with a bit of a stronger emphasis on the Wild )
Random_Nerd: W: "Well, I have an idea. He didn't start with the Code of Hell. Picked it up about seventy years ago, I don't have an exact date. But around the same point when he started his current role as Barakiel's envoy."
DanteE: "Wait a second. Wouldn't Barakiel /not/ like whoever kicked him out and therefore be inclined to go against him?"
Theresa: "But he might be cowed enough by the person of authority that he would back down.:
Random_Nerd: L: "Unless he thinks he's stronger. Or the other is weaker. Or better knows how to fight."
Theresa: "And the Code makes sense. He's an envoy to many different people and factions. Hell folks wouldn't trust a Heaven-envoy and vice versa. But if he's both, he's more trustable."
Random_Nerd: S: "Not to me. That makes him sound like some sort of splinterland inside his own head."
DanteE: "Hold on. We are assuming a /lot/ here.
Random_Nerd: W: "Perhaps that's the idea. Consequences comes across as sane and rational, right?"
Random_Nerd: S: "Yeah, I thought so."
Random_Nerd: W: "Maybe he's supposed to show that Barakiel's conjunction of Codes doesn't make one impossible to deal with?"
Random_Nerd: L, to Dante: "What?"
DanteE: "Well, for one thing, we're assuming he won't listen to us, even though we've talked to two Ages. Theresa has proof.
Random_Nerd: Sam fidgets.
DanteE: "Second, we're assuming we need to cow him into submission in order to accomplish anything.
Theresa: "A sort of 'see, I can handle them both and my boss is much better at it than _I_ am..."
Random_Nerd: L: "Could be wrong. That was just best guess based on knowledge of Angels."
DanteE: "Lesson, you grew up in a realm that didn't have diplomacy, compromise, or any interaction on an equal level."
Random_Nerd: L: "Yes. Hell. Unlike this hellish place filled with blood, demons, and torment."
Theresa: "Point to the demon."
Theresa: (In a 'you have a point', not a 'where on the demon did the Noble touch you' way.)
DanteE: "Or, from another viewpoint, precise lines, clean surfaces, and proper proportions. Brian, how many Golden Ratios are in this room?"
Random_Nerd: L: "Err, sorry, sir."
Theresa: (This room isn't perfect, though. This is the normal guest quarters.)
Random_Nerd: Brian: "Seventeen. If you don't count the ones that got broke by the damage.""
Eve: "All right. I propose, then, a division of labor."
DanteE: "What say we take what we have and run it by Consequences, and ask him if it would change his boss' mind? He's been dealing with Barakiel for almost 2 centuries. He would know."
Eve: "All right. It's better than going directly to the Angel, at this point."
Random_Nerd: L: "I still don't understand. Place looks like Hell. Not just generally like Hell. Have seem places here that have seen before. Know that those places are in Hell. If you say this isn't Hell, I believe you, but I don't understand."
Eve: "It's Hell, but at the same time it's somewhere else. Kind of like the two worlds on Earth."
DanteE: "Lesson... Barakiel apparently took a little bit of Hell with him to Jupiter."
Random_Nerd: L: "Still don't understand, but won't waste your time about it."
DanteE: "You saw when we rode here, didn't you? We didn't go near the base of the Tree."
Theresa: "Lesson, how much better is this room as compared to outside of the room?"
Random_Nerd: L: "I don't know how the Tree works either. I've seen it, the roots, at least, but it seems weird to be located somewhere compared to it."
Random_Nerd: L: "It's a nice, comfortable room. But although I didn't see those in Hell, I assumed they were there. Angels and Powers probably don't like poking /themselves/ with sticks."
Random_Nerd: L: "No reason to think that they didn't have nice places for themselves, where they don't have to worry about being on fire and being attacked by crazed sharks who are also on fire."
Theresa: "Well, outside where you see Hell, the others see a place that is a multude better than this room as this room is compared to Hell."
Eve: "Some of the others.."
Random_Nerd: L: "I... don't want to waste your time. I know you have important things to do. I can ask someone else, later, how it works, if you say I don't need to understand it now."
Theresa: "Okay, Lesson."
Theresa: "So, talk to Consequences or find an Angel to bully Barakiel?"
DanteE: "Talk to Consequences. He can tell us if we'll need to find a bully...
DanteE: "And I don't want to be on the bad side of an Angel if I can help it."
Eve: "Agreed."
Eve: "Now, next question... Who gets to explain all of this to Consequences?"
Theresa: "Okay. *to the NPCs* Do you guys want to stay here while the Chancel repairs the walls?"

  • Eve gestures around at the wrecked room.

Theresa: (Dante!  :) )
Random_Nerd: Lesson shrugs.
Random_Nerd: S: "It's all the same to me."
Random_Nerd: W: "Wherever we're most useful for you."
Eve: (I second the nomination of Dante Eberhardt to the position of Messenger With Bullseye Painted On.)
DanteE: "Well... depends. You know things will get copmplicated if he asks me details on what will happen./"
Theresa: "They always do."
Eve: (There! It's official!)
DanteE: (I nominate Tpyo!)
Theresa: (Tpyo is unable to get more votes.)
Eve: "Then one of us should go too to run interference."
Eve: (aka keep Dante out of trouble.  :)
DanteE: (Volunteers? Or should I just bring Lesson? :) )
Theresa: (Theresa will volunteer or let Lesson go with you. Brain a little mushy.)
Eve: (I can do it too if you'd rather not.)
DanteE: (We can all go)
Eve: (Our Voice of Reason is missing though.  :( )
Random_Nerd: L: "There is one thing I'd like to know, if you have a moment."
DanteE: "What?"
Theresa: (42.)
Random_Nerd: L: "What happened to James?"
Eve: "We don't know."
Random_Nerd: L: "I've been praying to him, a lot, and he never answers. And he never steps into my mind the way he used to>"

  • DanteE looks over Lesson with The Sight...

Theresa: "He's not dead, because you would know."
Random_Nerd: (He's still an Anchor.)
Random_Nerd: L: "But I read some books I borrowed from those guys," *waves a limb at Aides* "and it seems like he can't be dead, because I'm still connected to him."
DanteE: "Kudzu said he 'got rid of him', and didn't elaborate."
Random_Nerd: L: "Okay."

  • DanteE suddenly has this image of James as a Pokemon being traded to another Imperator for a charizard...

Eve: (lol)
Theresa: (Theresaur...)
Eve: (I'm clearly an eevee. I mean, come on.)
Theresa: ( Hee! ^^ )
DanteE: (allons-nous?)
Eve: (Could we break now actually and talk to Consequences next time? I had fun but I feel we're drifting and I for one wouldn't mind quitting early.)
Random_Nerd: (That could work.)
DanteE: (Fair enough... wait for our voice of reason? :) )
Eve: (Indeed.)
Theresa: (Bulbabulba... I mean, yep.  :) )
Random_Nerd: Dante, you feel the itching feeling of someone praying to you.
DanteE: (click) Hello?
Random_Nerd: Lesson Praying: "I am sorry that I contradicted you, and in public. I did not intend any disrespect. I merely wished to try to help. Please forgive me for the disrespect I showed."
Theresa: (Awww...)
DanteE: Pray back: "We'll talk later."
Random_Nerd: L: "Yes, sir."
Eve: (Is prayer two-way? I hadn't realized.)
Theresa: ("Can you hear me now?")
DanteE: (Well, if not, I could just quietly say it to him.)
Eve: (I mean, for nobles sure. But I didn't know we could send to mortals that way.)
Eve: (Not a criticism, just wnat to know for the future.)
Random_Nerd: (Not really... but eh. We can handwave it.)
Eve: (Sure then.)
Random_Nerd: (Dante could, I'm sure, find about half a dozen ways to communicate with Lesson without being audible to others.)
Eve: (Fair enough.)
Random_Nerd: (So, shall we call it a night?)
Eve: (Works for me.)
DanteE: (OK... "You're a NIGHT! Ha!")
Random_Nerd: _______________STOP__________________
Random_Nerd: So, what did you think.

      • DanteE is now known as Knockwood.
      • Eve is now known as Etheric.
      • You are now known as BethE.

Etheric: I enjoyed it a lot. I also think that, while the Demonboxing Bug is clearly still present, we handled it a lot better this time.
Knockwood: Imagine what will happen when we actually leave the room!
Random_Nerd: I mean, I'm pondering the fact that this storyline has basically been "Go talk to this one guy. And then go talk to these three other people about the talk with one guy. Now, talk about the talks with the other three, and talk with one of the three about talking with the first guy."
Random_Nerd: Are you guys okay with the relative lack of action this storyline?
BethE: I just really like Lesson. I don't know why. And the whole 'I could be like you if the really right things happen'. was thought provoking with the thoughts of what humans could have been as Imperial.
Etheric: It's fine. I find it a nice change of pace. Do want another Excrucian to smite sometime though.  ;)
Knockwood: Actually...
Etheric: Well, a shard. <.< Somehow I doubt full-Excrucian is in our league.
Knockwood: I was thinking about the next storyline.
Knockwood: How about we go after the Corrupt Cult?
Random_Nerd: Works for me.
Random_Nerd: Oh, and by the way, at the end of this story arc, everyone will be getting two CPs rather than one, since it's been a big one.
Etheric: That was along the same lines I was thinking.
Etheric: Assuming the current situation gets relatively resolved that is.
Knockwood: In addition to the basic benefits, checking out how they got corrupted will tell us something about the Ex plans...
Knockwood: while checking out the cult's genesis might tell us about our predecessors.
Random_Nerd: Yep.
Etheric: No problem, I'll just use a Miracle too... Oh, wait.  :)
Etheric: Going to be fun. XD
Random_Nerd: I'll spend some time fleshing out my ideas about the cult, so it'll be ready in a few weeks when we need it.
Etheric: Okay.
Knockwood: Then I might go ahead and do the combat-configuration of Dante.
Random_Nerd: Could you guys say what you liked most and least about the GMing this time?
Random_Nerd: The aspect-based martial arts we talked about?
Knockwood: Oh... I may not be here the 21st, I'll be visiting family.
Knockwood: RN: or possibly a create-blade gift
Etheric: Most -- dialogue. Least -- well, slow pacing, but a lot of that was us, too.
Etheric: Hm, question also.
Random_Nerd: Oh, and did the stuff Lesson said make the time you spend investigating the problems with Barakiel's plan seem wasted?
Random_Nerd: Yes?
Etheric: If I (or anyone) found another Urbanization, would people want to add another?
Random_Nerd: Hmm.
Etheric: And would that be consistent with RN's plans for James?
Knockwood: Dante's been around CarrEve enough to hold out Hope that this can be resolved relatively simply. :)
Random_Nerd: I would have to change my brain-internal canon for what James is up to a bit, but I could do so without any actual retcons in the things seen in the game.
BethE: Do we want to submit another to the Curse of James?  :) Just kidding.
Etheric: As for the question, it didn't make it seem wasted. It did make it seem like we needed to prepare a bit more.
Random_Nerd: Okay, good.
BethE: And I figured that out of all of us, Lesson's spent the most time around Angels. But also that time is filtered through his own viewpoint.
Knockwood: well, like I said, it'd make sense given Lesson's upbringing
Random_Nerd: I wanted him to get across that it might take more than just a good argument, because Barakiel is working from a weird set of axioms and has a talent for self-deception.
Random_Nerd: And, yes, Beth. Lesson is not always right even about Hell and Angels.
Random_Nerd: Highlighting that fact was part of why I had Lesson talk about his confusion over how the Chancel isn't Hell.
Random_Nerd: Anything else before we separate?
BethE: We've seen the self-deception. "I _tried_ to get the Fall to stop, but does anyone _listen_ to me, noooooooooooo...."
Knockwood: any more comments on my 24-Hour Settings thing? ((Link: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=363294)http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=363294 )
Random_Nerd: And he isn't even the Imperator of Martyrs!
Knockwood: and we're seeing despair...
Random_Nerd: And delusion, for that matter.
Knockwood: talking about all the destruction.
BethE: I'
BethE: m thinking about it, Knock.
Random_Nerd: Destruction's later. As is death.
Knockwood: and creation's Destiny...
BethE: *checks card* Bingo!  :)
Knockwood: Yeah, we need a tall pale guy with excellent dialogue. :)
Random_Nerd: It's an interesting idea, Knock. But it's not for me. My abilities are more in the area of fleshing out an existing setting.
Knockwood: RN: you could do that. Hell, I'd like to see more about the city in IOSHI.
Random_Nerd: City in IOSHI?
Knockwood: ah... Sparta, I think.
Knockwood: Remember, RSB's setting from Ex Machina?
Random_Nerd: Ex Machina?
Knockwood: GoO's Cyberpunk book?
Knockwood: Anybody know what I'm talking about, or is Delusions fucking with me?
Etheric: I think I may have heard of it at some point, but never read it.
Random_Nerd: I never even heard of it.
Knockwood: big blue book about Tri-Stat Cyberpunk.
Knockwood: Had a bunch of mini-settings, one of which was written by RSB.
Random_Nerd: Huh. Cool.
Knockwood: (Link: http://index.rpg.net/display-entry.phtml?mainid=950)http://index.rpg.net/display-entry.phtml?mainid=950
Knockwood: and that one I think you can actually find. :)
Knockwood: oh... as long as we're 'sharing' random stuff... who's seen the Zero Punctuation video game reviews?
Random_Nerd: I have.
Random_Nerd: Guy's a good writer, and his delivery is top-notch.
BethE: The Portal one was awesome.  :) The Tomb Raider ban on the word 'boob' was impressive.
Knockwood: yeah, right up until the end. :)

      • lazarus has joined #nobilis.

BethE: Hey Laz. *HUG*
Knockwood: Hi Laz!
Random_Nerd: Hey, Laz. We were just winding down after stopping the game.
lazarus: sorry I couldn't make it today ... when my laptop fan starts to sound like a motor boat motor, I kinda worry ...
Knockwood: so did you take a hammer to your fan?
BethE: The heights he had climbed made the fall even more impressive, like the skydiving Elvis-impersonators.
Knockwood: and of course, at the end you have him shaking his fist while talking about "/stonking great tits!!!/"
lazarus: ...
Knockwood: ... yeah, we did 'Lesson Finds Himself' this week. Sorry you missed it, Laz. :)
BethE: *giggle*
