Secrets

I am lucky to have a circle of findres who game in a big way. I suspect you would not have too much problem locating a group the difficulty being finding people you click with. ..and yes, gaming is easier these days with a job and money and stuff.

Secret of the Exorcist

You possess a natural affinity for fighting and controlling spirits. Your mystic rituals and powerful essence techniques allow you to bind, banish, and repel such creatures, adding 1 die to all such actions. For 1m, you may choose one spirit within sensory range of your location. On the spirit's next action, you may force it to either take no action, flee, or dematerialize.

Secret of the Stars

Though the Bureau of Destiny is still only a twinkle in the Maidens' eyes, you may still draw upon the power of the stars and the Loom to manipulate Creation. With a night's work of reading starcharts and tracking constellations, you may create Resplendent Destiny disguises for yourself and bestow minor blessings and curses upon others. For 1m, you may invoke one Resplendent Destiny power (note that some particularly potent powers may have undesired side effects...).

Character Information

Backstory

Once upon a time there was a young woman, not more than eighteen years of age, who struggled to deliver her first and only child. Her long labor exhausted her and drained her life until, in desperation, she called out to Saturn to end her labor. To her great surprise, Saturn answered. “I can ease your suffering,” she said, “but I will have your child in payment.” The young woman nodded once, and in that moment Star was born. Her little body was cold and still, but Saturn cradled her gently in her arms and kissed her, once on each eyelid. The baby’s eyes opened and she began to cry- as did her mother, who suddenly regretted her hasty promise. Saturn smiled coldly, but she passed the child back to her mother. “Raise her well. One day I will call for her, and nothing in heaven or on earth will stop me from reclaiming my own.”

Years passed, and the little baby grew into a young girl. She was always different from the day she was born, quiet and serious where her friends were loud and boisterous, and she was sometimes found talking quietly to herself in the nearby forest. Eventually it was discovered that her otherworldly violet eyes could see into the spirit realm and the local shaman quickly adopted her as his apprentice. At his knee, she learned all about the superstitious rituals and practices that would keep the small spirits of disease and despair away.

On the morning of her thirteenth birthday, Star awoke with a strange but certain feeling that it was time for her to leave the village. When she spoke of the matter, her mother fell silent. Fearing that Saturn was stealing her child away, Star’s mother forbade her to mention it again- and later when she attempted to sneak away in the night, her mother caught her and locked her in a sturdy cellar. Saturn, however, would not be denied. Not three days later, Star’s mother fell ill with a deadly plague that not even the skilled shaman could cure. She finally set her daughter free, begging to be cured of her illness, but there was nothing Star could do to save her. Star left the day her mother died, pausing only to perform the proper funeral rites on the body.

From that day onwards, Star wandered Creation, drawn ever onwards by the strange pull at her heart. On her journey, she honed her skills as a wise woman and healer, but her greatest talent lay in warding and exorcisms. By the time she reached the Eastern shore of the Inland Sea, she had gained a reputation as a hero who could protect downtrodden humans from the deadly games of lesser spirits. Waiting for her on the stormy seaside was Saturn herself. Though Star had never been told about the strange circumstances surrounding her birth, it seemed to her that she recognized the beautiful, white-haired young woman. As Saturn smiled in welcome, a dark violet glow suddenly illuminated the shore- and Star joined the ranks of the Exalted host.
