Setting[edit]

The distant Tian* sector was gripped only weakly by the Empire, after the local force-using tradition surrendered quickly to the Sith in return for a measure of continued autonomy. Palpatine did not live long enough to renege on this arrangement, and decades later a fragile balance of power exists between three factions:

The Imperial Regency[edit]

The strongest military power, maintaining all of the industrial capacity built here by the Empire. The Regent explicitly positions herself as maintaining order and security as she awaits a true successor to Palpatine, expanding her territory that as many citizens as possible are saved from the chaos of the Tian sector. She is aided by Lady Guanyin, whose red lightsabre is dreaded by every pirate, slaver or anyone else she identifies as an agent of suffering in the life of the people.

The Commonwealth[edit]

An alliance of worlds aligned with the Republic with the ambition to join it once they can present control of the Tian sector as a fait accompli. They cannot match the Regent's endless factories and troopers, but their patrons' technology finds its way even to this distant sector (a T70 X-Wing fares well against a TIE l/n), and they have great arsenals of capital and influence. The Commonwealth prefers luring worlds with the prospect of prosperity and freedom to outright conquest, but is not above meeting its foes in the field. Democracy is the distinguishing feature of this alliance, but the Senate and the Prime Minister fall under the influence of Countess Raene, a wielder of the force best described as a gentrified gangster; the surprisingly cosy relationship between the Commonwealth and the local criminal element can be laid at her feet.

House Zhuanxu[edit]

Force-wielders, celebrities and very, very old money. Despite their "arrangement" with Palpatine they have retained legitimacy in the eyes of much of the Tian sector and have quickly resurged in the years since his death, controlling much of their traditional territory outright and wielding vast influence even on many worlds controlled by the Regency or Commonwealth. They have long used marriage to concentrate force talent in the sector within their ranks, keeping the family tree fresh and giving them a legacy of charismatic heroics as glamourous and mighty nobles arise in each generation. However, for all they pay lip service to the house's mystic and monastic traditions, family comes first, without exception. Her Excellency, Zhuanxu Nei, even now protects several of her clan that have been seduced to the Dark Side, ensuring their misdeeds are concealed from the public.
