Architecturally the city has been described by many as "more money then sense" which while not 100% true has some origin in fact. When the city was first being built the american government used this as a chance to project soft power by hiring the best and most famous architects from all round the 1st world, being given almost free reign and a military sized budget between them many of this times buildings where paragons of design. While the government level funding was not to last it has left a mark on the character of the city with many promising architects coming to the city and many of the buyers wanting a building that stands out. Even the most sensible building in the city are build with an eye to what are best practise rather than what is cheapest.

Leyline Island is an artificial landmass raised by a "geomancer"* villain in the 1960's to be his private kingdom. He was thwarted by the then World Heroes before the land mass was large enough to cause any ecological damage but the land mass was stable and around the size of Connecticut. "Just" off the coast of the USA it was claimed by the USA and actively settled, that said as a new land mass many groups also settled before the USA could take complete control and since many immigrants from around the world have entered this island.

Other than the metropolis (to be named something 60's and comic logic) most of the island is small suburb-esc towns and villages based on settler groups surround by frankly insufficient for self sufficiency farms and man made nature parks.

When The World Heroes Defeated the geomancer they decided to move their base to then unclaimed by any one nation as the place of their base, passed down through the years to the new members the official base has now been moved to truly neutral territory (the moon) with the old base no more than a museum and tourist trap. The city is still of interest to the World heroes but now as a test bed for supers that have caught their eye.

Leycross[edit]

As the Main metropolis, Leycross grew at first around The World Heroes Base before spreading more to the coast and the flat land to the east. The metropolis is broken up unofficially by locals into 7 main areas with each covering multiple neighbourhoods. The first 5 being named after the 5 grand parks. These parks equidistant from each other and fairly central to the main body of the city and many claim look when taken together similar to the universal hazard symbol for magic**. The parks are named after the flower or tree that is the primary feature of the parks gardens or features. These are Lavender park, Lotus park, Cherry park, Rose park and Apple park. The other 2 regions include "the east plains" which is the outer part of the eastern expansion and mostly low to medium density residential areas. The final area is the unimaginative coast area covering all coastal areas from industrial docks to tourist attracting beaches.

Architecturally Leycross has been described by many as "more money then sense" which while not 100% true has some origin in fact. When the city was first being built the american government used this as a chance to project soft power by hiring the best and most famous architects from all round the 1st world, being given almost free reign and a military sized budget between them many of this times buildings where paragons of design. While the government level funding was not to last it has left a mark on the character of Leycross with many promising architects coming to the city and many of the buyers wanting a building that stands out. Even the most sensible building in the city are build with an eye to what are best practise rather than what is cheapest.

The city of Leycross doesn't host a large population of pigeons instead their niche is taken up by multiple populations of escaped pet birds. Canary, finches, song birds parrots of all kinds and previously mentioned corvids are just some examples, aided in survival by the original city planners love for green space and tree lined roads. Because of the larger than normal predatory bird population there are less than expected rodent population

And some side reading highlights the main public transport systems in the city are monorail followed by bus service.

*Ironically as the Islands founder he does have a statue in his honour, a small stone one hidden away in a forgotten corner of Apple park.

** OOC This is correct but lacks any mystical significance as of yet, the designer simply wanted a reference to the Island magical origin.
