Background: Sébastien was born in 1928 as the youngest son to a fairly well-off merchant family of Cajun ancestry. Even though he had 4 siblings, 3 of which were girls, his parents were able to ensure that he received a good education. Sébastien's father couldn't have been more proud when he chose a career in civil service while his older brother would inherit the family business. Joining the FBI in 1951, he quickly rose through its ranks through his sharp wits and diligence. When he had completed his training, he was assigned to infiltrate the teaching staff at Tulane University and investigate rumours of anti-American activity.

However, the paranoid climate of the Cold War made the people in charge suspicious of more than just Communists. The so-called lavender scare[1] made men such as Sébastien, who felt attracted to their own sex rather than the opposite one, feel increasingly unwelcome in many branches of the United States' civil service. Sébastien never found out who informed on him, but he suspects to this day that his Sire had something to do with it.

His career in ruins and disowned by his family, he accepted the older vampire's offer: slowly fade from the mortal world's awareness and gain access to another, wider world of darkness and secrets. Sébastien served his maker as investigator and spymaster for over a decade, as was custom within the Invictus, slowly gathering influence for himself. When he was finally released, he was already deeply entrenched in the Kindreds' intrigues. At that time, the only thing still connecting him to his mortal life was his brother, who had stuck with him even as his shameful secret identity as a lover of men was exposed.

Eventually though, someone must have decided that he had his fingers in too many pies. His sources slowly dried up, his agents burned, he frantically tried to salvage what he could, but it was too little, too late...
