Thanks for taking a look at FANGS. I'd not really intended it to be only fantasy, but that is sort of the way that it came out. It is true that advantages and disadvantages is certainly different then d20 -- I'd always figured that there would be some way to integrate some of them with feats, but never figured out a method.

One that that we could do is adopt similar dice techniques as much as possible, and such skill advancement techniques as is possible. I'm quite open to reasonable changes. --- [[User:ChristopherA|ChristopherA]] 13:15, 21 Sep 2005 (PDT)

Hello everyone. My screenname is Naranater, and I started this project just the other day. I figure that anybody who plans to take part regularly should sort of have some way of contacting or discussing things with the other regular volunteers. I'm not the most tecno-literate guy around, but I assume this is the sort of space for that?

Well, at any rate, this seems like a good place for people to mention any big changes or ideas that they want to add to the wiki. Thank you for your interest!

Have you taken a look at Basic FANGS here at RPGnet yet? It also tries to be classless skill-based RPG system, with some compatibility with d20 modules. It may be worth while trying to integrate some of the ideas there. -- ChristopherA 17:28, 14 Sep 2005 (PDT)

Thanks, Chris. I have given it the once-over, I still need to read through it more carefully. All-in-all Fangs isn't quite the same as OD20, even though they have a lot of similar goals. For a start, Fangs is intentionally Fantasy-based, which is immediately at-odds with OD20 which is going for a more of a 'rules set' kind of thing. Also, Fangs uses a characterists and a distadvantages system which I intentionally did away with when forming the basic style of OD20, and that means that a lot of the stuff is difficult to translate.

I have a lot of respect for FANGS, what I've read so far is better (cleaner, smoother, faster-to-run, etc) than a heck of a lot of commercial RPGs! But I'm not really sure which of the ideas could cross over from FANGS to OD20. Thanks for the suggestion, though. If there is any way cross-over point between the two systems that I didn't think of, or if there is anything I could do to help out with FANGS (the 'things I want others to do' page is empty, so I figured not), then please let me know.
