The Blighted Land

This realm is a very active realm and has taken quite a lot of damage as a round of wars have permanently disfigured the world.

The United States is comprised of a loose association of Prefectures subdivided into smaller states. The Federal Government controls the navy of the combined states, the Federal Prison system, and to some degree the military and the Center for Disease Control and Management for the various Prefectures. Beyond that the Federal Government has little control over the member prefectures.

While the North American continent is pictured here and is fairly active and well populated, the rest of the world has suffered many challanges of their own.

• South America: a nuclear blast centered on the Panama Canal permanently separated the two continents and eliminated the quick route from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Brazil and Argentina were periferal victims in the nuclear fallout as a collection of nuclear weapons of uncertain origin rained down on the Amazon delta. Fallout crossed the east coast of South America making both highly dangerous to survive in. The South Coast Alliance is a nation surviving well in the Blighted Earth and comprises Chile and Peru with wide parts of Boliva and the highlands of western Argentina.
• Asia: In the exchanges of nuclear weapons China, Russia, India, and Iran, something deeply structural in the planet became unstuck. The Indian Plate, a tectonic plate including the Indian Subcontinent buckled, and crushed upwards into the Eurasian Plate, twisting the Arabian Plate along the way. The impact caused the lower part of the Eurasian plate to crumble from The Caspian Sea, through Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tibet and ending in the South China Sea at Hong Kong. These regions crubled and were covered by the ocean creating a long band of unstable islands. Tidal Waves scrapped Southeast Asia and Indonisia in miles high waves that broke in the middle of the continent of Australia. The lost of life was over 2 billion people. The water receded but little of civilization remained.
• Antarctica: The Indian Plate destruction created a tidal wave that struck Antarctica and destroyed Casey Station and crushed the Antarctic Ice sheet. Regions south of India and Australia were destroyed. Regions below South America served as bases for survivors of several southern naves and populations from Argentina and Chile. Official Antartica is a protectorate of the South Coast Alliance.
