Monk 7/Shadowdancer 3/Spirit Shaman 1

Appearance:

Thelia's werefox ancestry gives her a slightly more light frame than the typical Shifter, but she is by no means petite. Well muscled and highly nimble, the twenty-something woman's movements are at once graceful and terrifying, the scars peeking out from under her copper hair serving as testament to a life of danger.

The natural distrust of Shifters holds true for only a short while around her, as many perceive her smile to be directed at them. She normally speaks only when necessary, preferring to listen and wait. Her outfits tend to draw the eye downwards, but she is no harlot.

Personality:

As time progresses, Thelia has begun to come out of her shell. At first cold, almost unfeeling, her experiences (good and bad) have allowed her to begin reaching out to others, albeit tentatively.

Her animal nature has become more prominent as of late, manifesting itself as a tendancy to anger more quickly than before, but also a need to form closer bonds with those around her. She is slowly adjusting to both this new world, and the one opened up to her by Lord Shadowspawn's efforts. She has managed to contact her Spirit Guide and through it was able to bring herself back from the edge of insanity.

She is still unstable from her ordeal, and whether both her Guide and Shadowspawn are manipulating her or not is unclear.

Background:

Raised by her troupe of Shifter Shadowdancers, she and her "pack" traveled Cyre, performing plays both fictional and historical for the amusement of the crowds. They encountered the devastation of the Last War on a regular basis, but it was not until an unfortunate run in with a Thranish squad led by a fanatical Flamite Paladin that the War really hit home.

Reeling from the loss of several of it's members, the small band was approached by House Phiarlan. Hard pressed to recoup their losses, they had little choice but to accept, working as both entertainers and spies, taking requests against both suspected foreign infiltrators and their own countrymen. The conflicting loyalties to both House and Country strained the troupe, many questioning the wisdom of their activities. When House Thuranni approached the more disgruntled members, effectively suggesting a doublecross, the cohesion finally broke.

It was during this time that the Mourning occurred. While most of the troupe attacked each other in a frenzy, Thelia, only recently accepted as an adult, watched in horror as the mist rolled towards them. Seeing the devistation it caused, her grandfather placed her on a horse and ordered her to flee.

And flee she did. She knows not the fate of her family, and speaks little of it. If it is her desire to right this perceived act of cowardess that drives her to dive back into the cursed land of her birth, she shows no sign of it.

After passing the border, Thelia encountered the Valenar massacre of the Cyrean refugees. Instead of being killed on the spot, the raiders decided to take her prisoner. With most Fox Shifters having resided in Cyre, she was now a rare occurence and would fetch a high price in the slave trade. The trauma of losing her home, her family and her freedom in such a short time left her in a state of mental paralysis, unwilling or unable to fight back.

There she was bought by a human named Uther for a hefty sum. A towering figure of a man, he ran a war profiteering business taking advantage of the social devistation of the Last War. War orphans were sold to families who lost their children for a price, but outside the red tape and inefficiency of the bureaucracy. Thelia was bought for the other, far darker side of his business.

He supplied so-called "custom" children to those with the money to pay for them, normally the aristocracy. Most weren't looking for children, they were looking for playmates for their own kids or curiosities to satisfy their interests, most of which involved cross-species children. Thelia was quickly integrated into the program, with Uther forcing himself on her for her first child. Once she discovered she was pregnant, it snapped her out of the paralysis. Through some luck and sheer determination, she was able to escape her confinement. The ensuing chase lasted for three days, ending in Uther's death. She did not escape unscathed, as the injuries she sustained in the last minutes caused her to miscarry.

Since then, she has been largely reserved. Her cold demeanor is a reflection of her inherent mistrust of others, as well as her fear that letting anyone in will only bring further pain. Having worked with the rest of her group for so long, she's beginning to come out of her shell, but only slightly. She has so far been most open with Gerald, and there are inklings of romantic interests between the two. How her past may color any potential relationship is uncertain.

It has come to light that Lord Shadowspawn is actually a former pack mate, horribly deformed by the Mourning. He was her brother's best friend, watched over her for much of her life, and even arranged to be married to her before the Silver Flame attacked and took him prisoner. He knows much about her past, and has a far more intimate knowledge of her legacy than even she. Having inherited a rare ability in her clan to actually communicate with the deceased, she has started seeing spirits everywhere. Shadowspawn's plans for this ability are unknown, but she has begun to learn to control them.

Hints for role playing: While she puts up a calm face, she is far less certain of herself than before. Interaction with others beyond business-style dealings is territory she has not touched in nearly half a decade. Quick to react to perceived threats to those she considers friends, but wracked by doubts as to her own sanity, she is relatively unstable emotionally.

In short...this thing is scary. It's primary goal is to ensure Thelia's continued survival AT ALL COSTS. As a part of Thelia, it can (and has) taken control of its host to accomplish this. It prefers, however, to merely advise and let Thelia do her own thing. Being so close to extinction, it is a major reason Thelia is such a target for men's attentions, wanted or not. It has revved up her body's signals for attracting a mate to near absurd levels, and hints that it is pushing Thelia towards choosing one soon have surfaced.

While it's origins are shrouded in mystery, two things are abundantly clear. It is old beyond belief and powerful beyond comprehension. It has, at the very least, lived since the Age of Demons, and seems to have a connection to the other Lycanthropic curses. Even with it's power already suggesting danger to those who have met it, it is the creature's cunning that truly marks it as a potentially grave threat.

As it stands, it has so far been quite helpful to Thelia and the Watchmen, even if its methods are questionable. Now in contact with his host full time, it wants to act as her guardian, mentor, and friend, but Thelia still remians somewhat sceptical of the creature's motives. Thelia knows its true name, but seems unwilling to share it for some reason.

As a side note, it seems able to communicate to active Lycanthropic curses in nearby carriers without either his own or his target's hosts being aware.
