Michael James Watson

Alvah awakes feeling a deep rumbling in the ground, like an avalanche.

Amber Bronkhorst

Shocked she looks up and crawls to her feet. Looking around to see where she is, it then dawns on her that Vek was going to have stone taken from deep within the mountain to build. And that must probably be it. Turning around she tries to find the way she came and begjn her walk back towards the village.. She does keep her senses on alert with the rumbling in case shifts in the earth might happen.

Michael James Watson

Tracking on the rumblings she finds the clearing in the forest where Vek is summoning. He stands at a pile of stone, decorated with candles. It occurs to her that while Vek talks of ritualism she has seen him do very little of it. He background lets her note the scrawled circle around the stones, a barrier of sand lightly burning. Candles.. A platter of glass marbles near his hand. As he reads from the book he grabs a marble, crushing it to powder. After awhile he sees her and motions her over.

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah smiles seeing Vek, at least she feels comfortable and at ease with him. Watching his ritual for a moment, then seeing him gesturing she carefully walks towards him. Making sure not to touch anything empowered or in use of the ritual. She looks up at him. "Do you need anything?"

Michael James Watson

"Just take a seat in the circle. One of the rocks there. I have a bit more to do before I pronounce the final details of the summoning." After she sits she sees Dowser coming from the direction of the camp and take a seat where Vek points next to Alvah. He smiles as he sits.

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah nods and silently takes her seat on the rock that Vek points to. Keeping a close eye on the preperations which Vek is doing. Seeing Dowser she smiles and inclines her head to him in a greeting.

Michael James Watson

Vek intones the tome reading from the book in a language far beyond the Vomos, Gorbash and Relek she is learning. At the end of an hour a small figure appears at the front of the circle. 2' tall, of a smooth carven stone, looking pudgy with a long face. He and Vek speak for about 10 minutes. Then he comes and sits on a rock next to Alvah . The small figure walks over to stand before the three. Vek says in Vomos, "Craggle, this is Alvah, my stonebound. This is Dowser. The bedrock of the vale. " "Stonebound. Bedrock. I see you. Now, Roockcaller, we have agreed to speak in Vomos but our signature will be in Kolbashic. The Dufrieanalat said to speak on good terms. WHat ground will you have me move?" "I need 100k of solid stone moved from the heart of the rock we sit upon. I need it moved near the artifact of power above. I will need you and I to mold and carve. There will be a small wall around 2/3 of the construct. a hall on one side attached to the wall and with one edge even to the cliff. " He looks to Alvah, then Dowser, then back to the stone. "The cliff face is jagged, an upthrust of stone. I want it polished smooth. Every 500 miles i want a Dragonwere tunnels dug able to support 100 Pernese dragons and 2000 humans each. I want the clif edge smooth below the water line to the ocean bottom. It is littered with an age of fallen rock. I want all that ocean stone brought up and deposited in cairns every 100 miles for future use."

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah watching on curiously to the summoning, then the little stone figure appears she smiles. Finding this massively interesting. When introduced she bows her head respectfully to Craggle. But says nothing to have the conversation go between Vek and Craggle. And Vek has the plans of course of hte building. And... dragons apperantly. When he mentions those she curiously looks at Vek nods impressed and turns her attention to the rest of the conversation again.

Michael James Watson

"I will need 5 deep woodland fortifications; on on each drop of north and south., 3 spread between them. I will need a fortification every 500 miles along the cliff edge, starting at sea level. And I will need them each guarded, as well as a guard force mobile. Plenty of work for Avasa Dufiro in the Keeps. I'll need many spirits of defense to keep the lowland Downhillers away. I need a keep in a location of their choosing for the Stonebound and the Bedrock." He frowns, looking down, considering the bill he is ringing up. "I need information on the magic called Earth Magic, with creation of Stone Trolls and Ur-viles. I need to know of the Ravers" The stone paces, "You set high terms, summoner. Let me be clear. You will need to seek a Knowledge Dufiro for the Earth Magic. I can not trade such knowledge. As for the rest. I have heard and we will speak when i have conferred with my line. Agreed?" Vek nods, "Agr.eed. I have your Calling Name and you have mine. " THe stone slides into the ground Vek chuckles, "Go big i guess, eh?"

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah nods when the dufiro has moved into the ground "Yeah go big or go home i suppose... that will be one big bill to pay dear. Is there already been discussed what you offer in return?" She folds her legs under her in a lotus sit. In silence she thinks for a bit, then looks at Vek again, "do you have a dufiro of knowledge i mind? And why do you want to know about stone trolls and the likes? You want to bring trolls here?"

Michael James Watson

"He and I just basically said hello, discussed ground rules for bargaining. Then switched to Vomos. As for the Earth Magic stuff, Realmer and I spoke about them when he was here. If the rock knows stuff, great. If not, then eliminating that stuff will make it look like we are closing in on a deal without me loosing stuff i want. And lower his price"

Amber Bronkhorst

Slowly nodding she thinks about his words "Sounds nothing more then logical really. Alright so we wait for the return of the dufiro?" Leaning on her knees with her elbows she stares at the cirlce and the items in there "Did you have any other plans at this point? Becuase most important now is the building of course. "

Michael James Watson

"Some time i will have to take a walk. There is a shadow i visit on occasion, with a race of dragons that are friendly but fiercely protective. They bond to their riders and they can teleport to great distances. I will bargain with them to bring a number of breeding gold dragons here. Its jsut a thought but since i have the Dufiro doing rock work, i might as well prepare for the future"

Amber Bronkhorst

"Well really i do love that idea of having dragons in the mountain. Would not be bad having extra protection, and if they don't mind living in the tunnels. it gives enough space to those here in teh village. " She then smiles soflty up to Vek. "Best be prepared for anything i suppose. And i assume yuou want the cliff side smooth to prevent climbing and such?"

Michael James Watson

"The dragons i hope to relocate are cave dwellers. There create 'Weres'; a cavern community of dragons and riders. I am hoping to 5 Weres along the face edge. As for polish, yes, to prevent climbers. Also to inscribe a defensive ward. "

Amber Bronkhorst

"Sounds really good. is there anything i can do to help? " Alvah rocks a bit on hte stone and looks around . "Guess most of the things that have to be done now are construction right?"

Michael James Watson

"To be sure. The castle and wall around the pattern are most important. If some or none of the Weres are built that will be fine for now. A few of the towers will be nessesary to keep the Downhill ah.. down hill...

Amber Bronkhorst

"Right, although it might also increase their curiosity of what might be here."

Michael James Watson

"I will make things to see, that will satisfy their curiosity. Downhill is not a magical realm. It is an industrial age, a steam age. Though, some people have 'knacks'; a low order form of simple inborn magics. Improved hearing, cast off insects, simple wards,. There is a good deal of "homey magic'; alchemists, herbalists, fortune tellers. But realm magic would horrify them. "I have a friend, a dufiro of Growth who spent time as a gardener on the grounds of Hendrake. He will create a verdant garden, filled with lilies and catspurs, ferns and flowers. Artichoke plants, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers even agave plants perhaps. It will be tightly grown, overwhelmingly productive and always in bloom. There will be a dozen such gardens around the Vale." "Each garden will be ringed with short walls of native stone. Visitors from Downhill will not see the pattern, nor will they have the power to detect it. "

Amber Bronkhorst

Listening to Vek she slowly nods agreeing with what she hears. "Sounds good. Yeah can't imagine people comming further up then. Curiosity can be easily eased. And if they can't sense the power, only people really wanting to come here on the mountain will reach it then. "

Michael James Watson

"The Downhill will learn of us soon enough. Its hard to avoid us. Its an arduous trip up hill, even getting the FlatHaven is a life experience. Few go further. " "But.. once i have 5 Weres of Dragons hee there will be a reckoning.. The people down below will have to be told..It will destroy their culture but i will make them service this community..Things change.."

Amber Bronkhorst

"Do you not think that would create unneeded conflict? Or are people downhill malleable enough to change to the new ways?" Turning again to Vek she smiles "I am just thinking out loud. Not doubting your decisions or anything. You know this place best. I am just curious to how it works here."

Michael James Watson

"To be honest I don't know how they will react. In all the years Veksvale has been here I have gone Downhill rarely. They are not a warlike people. regions are administered as needed but they have no tradition of warfare. Little sports either."

Amber Bronkhorst

A slight shrug "Then i suppose we will see what happens and how will be reacted to it all. But no sports either... sounds like a people who are not tk competitive.. which might be a goos thing in this case."

Michael James Watson

"It was one of the terms i sought this world on. Not terribly inquisitive. Not military or violently competitive. Theatrical. Musically inclined. Fond of the dance.. As shadowwalker, its sometime intriguing how our desires at the time apply themselves to our future selves"

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah looks up with a genuine smile "Fond of dance and music. Then there is never time for war. " Resting her chin in her hands she nods slowly "Perhaps deep down. Back then you already knew what was growing deep inside. I think those passions are with is always. Just waiting for the right moment to come out." A soft laugh. Remembering what Delwin had said that before Alvah could walk she could already dance.

Amber Bronkhorst

After her reminiscing of fun talks with her dad about dancing Alvah focuses her eyes again on Vek then she looks at Dowser as well. "Do you think the children here might want to learn more dances then they know? I wouldn't mind setting up some classes for those who want to learn."

Michael James Watson

"I'm sure they would. Dance is a common thing downhill. Part of their culture. Mostly circle dances, court dances, line dances.. Morris style dances. A version of Maypole dances are done a lot. The maypole plays a big part in the early spring festival even up here. Sort of a celebration of the end of spring. Stringed instruments, mainly lutes and harps. Nearly everyone i've met here can play the drums well enough to keep a beat. One of my fears when Random was here was that he would discover the quirk with drums these people have. I have a grand piano over in one of the community halls i play but its not an instrument native to this world."

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah smiles wide "Well i have time i'll set something up then. Unless there is something other hten pattern guard duty on my to do list? and avoiding Spatchi for now. " Alvah sighs "She is still to pissed of to talk to. She has good right to be don't get me wrong. But talking about it is... tiresome." She looks at Vek and shrugs "I'll try again later. But for now she just needs to hate me, which is fine. And i'll spend my time teaching dance! at least that keeps my skills up to par as well. "

Michael James Watson

Vek chuckles, "Spatchi is angry with you. That is different then hating you. Far different. Your roles are different now. I don't think she is a good Elite. Her temperament is suited for other service. Oh I am sure she can command the post here. But as a Protector she wasn't really clear on her job. She became a chef rather then searching out any dangers at the Restaurant. She became a friend, rather then a bodyguard. "

Amber Bronkhorst

"And now is she pissed at me thay i ruined her career that she is stuck with this job. " Alvah leans back stretching her back. "Honestly i saw her more as a friend as well. I don't need or want a bodyguard. Well i might need it.. but don't need it in my lifestyle and now i am stuck with Cazo... don't know the guy and he is apparently a favorite of Random.. " A deep exhale "But.... i not going to worry too much about it now. Useless anyway... but we have to think if we go to another shadow for training if he needs to go with or not..."

Michael James Watson

"You misjudge Spatchi. She didn't have to accept this posting. And she is hardly the first Protective Elite who got ditched by their principle. Hell, I left mine in a piano bar outside Newark and he's still there. She could have remained your Elite and stayed at the resort cooking. Hell, the time ratio was changed when she left so that almost no time is passing there without you. She requested this posting to be near you. As for Cazo, he's a gambler and a bit of a wildcard as an elite. He isn't the guy to look out for you. He's the guy to back you up in a fight and not much more."

Amber Bronkhorst

"I might misjudge her but just because that is the only thing she was yelling to my face about her notation on her record and that she is stuck here. And no i know more elites are left behind. Must by now be a hint to Random. " She then laughs "Backup in fight.... i have the feeling he might even start them. But we'll see... for now we're here anyway. Plenty to do." She then looks very seriously to Vek... "Oh dear if i ever get the brilliant idea to talk to my father again... make sure i don't... so far it ended up in a yelling match or otherwise argument where i get out unhealthy unbalanced... he likes to drop stuff on me which might have been useful to know beforehand and then when called out on it he blames it on me not hiding away with him for a century or what..." She looks at her hand which Nur had pointed out... "Heh beforehand.. hand.. bad pun."

Michael James Watson

"Its hard to explain but i feel something of a kindred spirit to Delwin. He was disregarded and teased when he was brought here by Oberon. Sand as well. But Oberon brought them when he didn't bring others. I think the level of disregard I faced was greater. Certainly more bloody. But in the end both of us had to both embrace our family and run from our culture. He may have secrets for years yet. You will too. I'll tell you another similarity between Delwin and I. We are both essentially ordained in our faith. He as Minister in the Unicorn Church, I as a Reader of the Serpent. Sand was a Minister as well. Raised by a fanatically devout mother. Sand lost her faith when he mother died. Delwin just lost his family. IT can be hard to live as we had. And its hard to explain"

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah laughs soft not in a bad way just hearing Vek talk about ehr father. "You know what is funny, when dad i and tlaked before i went to Untola. he said.. Candle Hyle he was fine with, even the Acadian prince Merrill he would have been find with but a Hendrake... but then he added i would not need his blessing.. " She shakes her head "just funny thought. But i think i get what you mean. and honestly i have little secrets. I know to little to have secrets. And what i know most people aroundme know as well. It is just annoying that dad knows so much about things which happened to me. But it often comes out after the fact. after i had trouble with it. But i can't blame him. He doesn't know what comes on my path it is not that he and i are in daily contact." Staring out in the distance she squints her eyes "and i am to believe what Nur said. Dad is probably in Azcala. in Zictla if i'm correct. retrieving something which mom had taken from me." She stares at her hand agian. "But yeah, sadly enough noone in our families will have a decent calm childhood. i think that makes us all the fucked up and paranoid people we are. Chaos and Amber alike. Because as you said. We are only a few generations away from Chaos as Amberites." Then a happy smiles appears on her fac.e "Oh don't know if Nur told you or not but he is teaching me other languages. He said that there might be some dufiro wanting to meet me, when i am proficient enough with languages. "

Michael James Watson

Vek laughs. "Ya! I think there will be some Dufiro that want to meet you.. Thats one of those fancy ways of saying there are tens of thousands of Dufiro who want to thank you for rendering a monster into a fire elemental. I'let you something you need to remember as you deal with them. They are all lawyers of a type. AND they are horrific gossips. IF you don't specifically tell them your deals and your details are a secret bound between you and them, then every word you speak to them is currency for them to invest in and trade away. Knowledge is power. It good Nur teaches you. He is fluent in all their languages, as a native, while i am teaching languages i had to learn on my own. DO you know the calling name of the Guard in Cicero? "

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah laughs "Oh yes well that is a way of putting it... but even that i did by accident.. i wouldn't even know how i rendered that masoja down to base element other hten that i used raw power... and i wouldn't know how to do that. According to Nur it was just pure instinct. He and dad had not figured out how i did it either. It shouldn't have been possible." Shaking her head she then answers "No actually i still don't know i had asked a young dufiro of knowledge to look it up but he ahd still not return with the answer. He was very very eager to do business as he is or was young well he probably still is. And can use all the currency so to say tha the can get." "Thanks for the advice, yeah really watch your words and make sure ground rules are in place when starting dealing. Oh Nur also told me that he perhaps had a dufiro of dance who he wanted me to talk to. She became a dufiro at a point. To talk about that path." Alvah stands up and on her toes she balances on the stone she sat on. "So how long do we want to wait here? "

Michael James Watson

Vek looks around, stretching, "hmmm a year? Well, someone would trump me before that. Or frigging Delo would track me down. She's a hunter with a trail knack. Ok then, one more run." He shifts to fennec form and runs into the underbrush.

Amber Bronkhorst

Alvah grins wide seeing Vek change into a Fennec again. She then steps off the stone and changes herself as well into her Fennec form. Darting after Vek in the underbush. Trying to sniff him out where he went.
