Description

Fire Gargoyles are carved from solid stone, and animated by the burning demon chi of chaos. They are often employed by evil sorcerers as guardians of temples and secret fortresses. Their red eyes burn with intense hatred, and they are able to exhale gouts of daemonfire at will.

Traits

  • Physical 3
  • Mental 0
  • Social 0

Fire Gargoyles are mindless constructs, so are immune to mental and social conflict. However, this same mindlessness limits them greatly and they are easily tricked and outwitted.

Demon Trigrams

  • Hell 2 (equivalent to Heaven)
  • Chaos 3 (equivalent to Fire)
  • Storm 4 (equivalent to Wind)
  • Lightning 1 (equivalent to Thunder)
  • Mud 1 (equivalent to Earth)
  • Blood 4 (equivalent to Water)
  • Smoke 2 (equivalent to Mist)
  • Bone 3 (equivalent to Mountain)

Demon Trigrams can be channelled in the same way normal "natural" trigrams can (i.e. Hell for Accuracy, Chaos for Power, etc.)

However, they provide none of the other benefits that the natural trigrams normally do. For example, having a high Blood Trigram doesn't give protection against Fire-based Trigrams in the same way that a high Water Trigram would. Also, significantly. Demon Trigrams don't provide Yang Chi or Yin Chi.

Chi Pools

  • Demon Chi 15

Demon Chi is spent to activate monster powers and to channel Demon Trigrams. It is not interchangeable with Yang Chi or Yin Chi.

Resilience Pools

  • Physical Resilience 19
  • Mental Resilience 0
  • Social Resilience 0

Kung Fu Secrets

  • Clumsy Flight

Fire Gargoyles can fly, though they are clumsy when they do so, and they cannot take off from low ground without a run-up.

  • Constructs

Fire Gargoyles don't need to breath, eat, sleep or otherwise sustain themselves in the way that living creatures would. They can remain motionless and watchful for centuries on end, and thus make excellent guardians.

  • Daemonfire

Fire Gargoyles can make ranged attacks with their fiery breath.

  • Soul Burn

Whenever a Fire Gargoyle does physical damage to a target with its daemonfire, as an additional effect that target loses Yin Chi equal to total damage taken.

  • Reconstruction

A Fire Gargoyle that has 0 Physical Resilience can spend 1 Demon Chi to pull itself back together as a free action at the start of its turn. If it does so, it regains 1 Physical Resilience. The Reconstruction effect only works if the gargoyle is within line of sight of its "nest" (usually a high up and hard to access lodestone filled with demon chi) and if the nest is destroyed then the effect fails. A character with Mental 2 or higher who takes a turn to work out why the Gargoyles are reconstructing will automatically identify the nest as the power source, and know that destroying it will end the effect.
