Xia: Main Page -> Xia: Foes and Allies -> Xia: Ta Yu - The Sorcerer

Description

Ta Yu was once Xia, but slipped from the path of righteousness to embrace his destiny as a sorcerer bearing the Mandate of Hell. He dreams of overthrowing the celestial order, and installing himself as a Demon King in the place of the Middle Kingdom's Emperor.

Ta Yu is a powerful threat, and probably suited as an end-of-campaign boss for your Xia game. If they encounter him any sooner, he will likely defeat them with very little trouble...

Traits

  • Physical 5
  • Mental 5
  • Social 5

Demon Trigrams

  • Hell 6 (equivalent to Heaven)
  • Chaos 6 (equivalent to Fire)
  • Storm 6 (equivalent to Wind)
  • Lightning 6 (equivalent to Thunder)
  • Mud 6 (equivalent to Earth)
  • Blood 6 (equivalent to Water)
  • Smoke 6 (equivalent to Mist)
  • Bone 6 (equivalent to Mountain)

Demon Trigrams can be channelled in the same way normal "natural" trigrams can (i.e. Hell for Accuracy, Chaos for Power, etc.)

However, they provide none of the other benefits that the natural trigrams normally do. For example, having a high Blood Trigram doesn't give protection against Fire-based Trigrams in the same way that a high Water Trigram would. Also, significantly. Demon Trigrams don't provide Yang Chi or Yin Chi.

Chi Pools

  • Demon Chi 100

Demon Chi is spent to activate monster powers and to channel Demon Trigrams. It is not interchangeable with Yang Chi or Yin Chi.

Resilience Pools

  • Physical Resilience 40
  • Mental Resilience 40
  • Social Resilience 40

Kung Fu Secrets

  • Eternal Energies of the Mandate of Hell

Once each turn, at the start of his turn, Ta Yu regains 10 Demon Chi. This does not take an action. He can instead forfeit his turn to gain 50 Demon Chi.

  • Demonic Resilience

Once each turn, at the start of his turn, Ta Yu regains 10 Mental, Physical and Social Resilience. This does not take an action.

  • Efficiency of Action

Ta Yu can spend 5 Demon Chi to take an additional action. The maximum number of actions Ta Yu can take in a turn is equal to his Lightning Trigram.

  • Sorcery

With enough demon chi expenditure Ta Yu can achieve pretty much any effect the DM deems with his sorcery. The below are just suggestions:

  • Wave of Green Fire

As an attack costing 10 Demon Chi, Ta Yu can make a physical attack against every enemy in the conflict.

  • Domination

As an attack costing 3 Demon Chi, Ta Yu can make a mental attack against a target. If the target is mentally defeated, he becomes a mind-slave to Ta Yu, eternally bound to obedience to the sorceror.

  • Defensive Magics

With forcefields, mindblocks and demon-wards, Ta Yu can spend 10 Demon Chi as a reaction to fully disregard any one attack.
