Victorian to Modern Marvel Differences[edit]

Unlike the Marvel's Vision, Argonaut does not possess the power to control its density, shoot laser rays, or fly. Even with "mad science" as its creator, I felt that a Victorian android powered by a Babbage engine should have more limitations than a modern day android created with super-science.

Backlog[edit]

Unit is composed of high-grade steel and hardwood exterior. Inside is an electromagnetically powered difference engine; the result of very early, unrecorded experiments by the unlikely team of Henry Pym, a brilliant yet troubled British scientist, and an eccentric Austrian scientist named Nikola Tesla. Tesla later became an American citizen and was credited with many inventions, and Pym continued to serve the British Empire as a military science contractor. While the whole time, their first daring experiment into A.I. lay forgotten in a lonely, dilapidated S.H.I.E.L.D. supply base. Unit infused with massive amounts of AC currents but thought to be a failure and scrapped. While languishing in storage, unit became self-aware by a process or happenings unknown and un- duplicatable. Unit had no programming, nor orders to follow, so it processed whatever immediate information it could find: a set of classical Greek mythology books, many back issues of London newspapers, and old instruction manuals for industrial machinery. Perhaps more...

BACKGROUND SINCE[edit]

Due to its unique combination of sentience and inhuman strength and endurance, Argonaut has been recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. to be part of the Queen's special force. Argonaut has much to learn of the world and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s offer to team it with other such distinguished individuals satisfies Argonaut's oddly human penchant for adventure and comradeship.

What is your Heroic Motivation?[edit]

Unit took the name Argonaut in reference to the mythical seekers that sailed in Jason's ship, The Argo. Argonaut itself is on an existential journey. Being the world's first known A.I. (though only known to a few as yet), Argo seeks answers and perhaps "humanity" by serving the only parents it has ever known, Queen and Country.

Complications or Character Flags[edit]

Argonaut is a new type of being created by unknowable mad science. There may be many strange powers and secrets in Argonaut that it is yet unaware of. Even its creators don't know exactly what makes this Victorian android tick. Argonaut wishes to fit in with humanity and may take actions to become "more human", such as attaining a voice, or even attempting drastic physical change. As of yet, the newly self-aware machine is content to serve England at the side of "his S.H.I.E.L.D. brothers."

3x5[edit]

Friends[edit]

(list 3 people that would help you for free; list name, your relationship, their concept in 1-2 sentences, where are they now.)

  • Pym, Henry: One possible creator of the Argonaut. Feels responsible for its creation, and may also have other designs for it.
  • McCoy, Hank: A zoologist working for S.H.I.E.L.D., Dr. McCoy finds Argonaut to be a fascinating study in the evolution of consciousness.
  •  ???

Contacts[edit]

(list 3 people that would help you for a price; list name, your relationship, their concept in 1-2 sentences, where are they now.)

  • Tesla, Nikola: One possible creator, though he may not trust Argo as it is a known associate of Hank Pym.
  • Edison, Thomas: American inventor and pioneer in phonograph and sound technology. Argonaut may seek him out in order to attain a "voice."
  •  ???

Enemies[edit]

(list 3 people that are your adversaries; list name, your relationship, their concept in 1-2 sentences, where are they now.)

  • Pym, Henry: Though outwardly friendly, Pym may have secret plans for the Argonaut.
  • The Tinkerer: A Swiss clockmaker turned villainous gadgeteer, he's after the secrets of Argonaut's robotics.
  •  ???

Locations[edit]

(list 3 locations in the game setting that are important to your character, important can be "good" or "bad"; list name, your relationship, the concept in 1-2 sentences, when last you were there.)

  • S.H.I.E.L.D. storage warehouse in London. Argo's "birthplace."
  • The labs of S.H.I.E.L.D. where Argonaut goes for needed repairs and maintenance.

Organizations[edit]

(list 3 groups in the game setting that are important to your character, important can be "good" or "bad"; list name, your relationship, the concept in 1-2 sentences, what they may be up to now.)

  • S.H.I.E.L.D. Good? Argo's employers and self-proclaimed keepers. When not in the field, Argo is often the subject of intense scientific study.
  • C.A.T.U. (Church against the unnatural) a fringe Catholic sect that views the concept of A.I. as an abomination. Should they ever discover Argo's sentient nature, they would surely seek it's destruction.
  • The Avengers. This gathering of extraordinary individuals drawn together by duty and adventure is meat and drink for the burgeoning consciousness and identity of the Victorian android.
