This decision proved wise, as shortly after Alodia reached her full growth and recieved the blessed implants of the Machine Cult, the Explorator fleet had once again gained intelligence regarding a potential STC cache, and had diverted to investigate further. Unfortunately, this did not go quite so well as the last--a band of troublesome Hereteks had managed to beat the flotilla to the location--and a lucky swell of the Warp's currents had allowed them to learn of the approach of the oncoming group, allowing them to lay a trap for the investigators. Sabotaging the world's remaining Archaeotech defenses to fire on the emerging vessels, and striking a blow against the hated Mechanicus. Having not heard of these defenses, the fleet was not prepared for battle, and sustained critical damage--the fleet's flagship taking the brunt of the barrage before the defense platform finally exploded from the strain. Alodia was working on one of the rear ships at the time, and was left in the unenviable position of being one of the few fully trained Adeptus remaining.
