Mal'rock is a village centered around and on a garos'thuja tree. The inhabitants make no distinction of the two and refer to both tree and village as Mal'rock. Wherein the surrounding land is devoured by the waters, the Trees' roots allow for an area higher and drier land. Here a tribe of gnomes dug their burrows centuries ago, and mouslings made a home out of the thick branches.

Mal'rock is a trading village on the edge of Shaema, placed between the banks of Gaema and Si'garos, close to where the rivers meet. It has a year round population of ~60, but that number fluctuates depending on the season (some hunters/gatherersspend most of the year roaming the swamps), or ritual day (on some such days the number quadruples).

Dinar is a human blacksmith, almost morbidly muscled and covered with burns old and new. He wears cloth pants and a leather apron. As far as can be seen, he is absolutely hairless. His wrinkled face seems to be set in a permanent scowl, but when he smiles ome can not help but to like him.

Shaema is poor in metal and has no skilled blacksmiths. Thus Dinars services are well sought after. His two powerful horses dragging the ingenious six wheeled portable smithy are a welcome sight each ju-ju fest. Dinar designed and built the giant wagon himself. It is stable even on very rough terrain, but nothing on wheels can travel deeper into the Shaema marshes.
Food production. For years now the inhabitants of Mal'rock shifted their efforts from hunting and gathering to farming and fish keeping. Their produce include gray rice, duck ear, kiakyok,

He is accompanied by his 9 year old daugher Maria. Her white face and light hair are a great contrast to her permanently grimy and sooty father. Dinar takes great care towards his daughter. He makes sure she is always clean, and lacks for nothing. This makes him more proud than does his skill as a master blacksmith. He is also skilled with a sword and fears not traveling with only his daughter. His wagon is designed to deal with would be robbers.

Fish farming. Lierko Gripelfus is the chief fish farmer.

Agriculture. Semi-aquatic agriculture to be exact, the plants Mal'rockans cultivate thrive on growing in water-clogged terrain. For now, these plants are gray rice, kiakyok and duck ear, but Mal'rockans are often experimenting with new plants. Tomlin Nurribit is the chief planter.

A mud wall separates the garden from the swamp. A wooden gate in the wall allows for precise irrigation.

Gathering. Mal'rockans, of course, don't produce everything that Shaema has to offer. Hobbits often enough still go out of their village to forage for edible, medicinal, and magical plants and fungi as they have been doing throughout memory.

Bee keeping. Jabu brought this craft to Mal'rock from who knows where. He is promising to teach this magic to one of the Mal'rockans before he leaves.
