=Non-Player Characters=
*Sage Akamar: Former court wizard of the Kingdom of Fourlan. Returned from banishment and killed the king.
*Ser Jobun: King's Steward and father of Mirana the maid.
*Mirana: Maid to Princess Arita, and also her body double. Currently disguised and acting as Princess Arita.
*Princess Arita: Second child of the deceased king of Fourlan. Currently disguised and acting as Mirana.
*Prince Kyton: Oldest child of the deceased king of Fourlan, and heir apparent.
*Onna: Looks like a 10 year old girl, dressed like a doll, but might be a clock-work assassin of some sort. Works for Akamar.
*The Dead Elf Queen: The spirit of the Elf Queen of a bygone age. A beautiful dark elf woman, she haunts the ruins of the elvish city deep within the Ferril Forest. She's friendly.
*Managarmr: A vicious, huge, intelligent dire wolf that protects the Ferril Forest. It seems to blame Mirana and her family for some blight upon the land. When slain, it reincarnates into another wolf, and retains most of its memories.

===Scarpkep===
The northwestern city. The King's city and seat of the royal court. It sits on a steep cliff guarding one side, and is surrounded by strong walls with a central keep. Irrigated fields surround the city. Currently under the sway of the wizard Sage Akamar.

Approximately 10000 people live in Scarkep and its surroundings. Mostly humans, with some elves, half-elves (mostly human-born), and dwarves. Halflings are rare, and half-orcs nearly unheard of.

The former ruler was well liked by his subjects, and his rule was marked by prosperity and a lack of conflict with other nations. His knights were proficient at keeping monsters from encroaching to closely on civilized lands.
===Rivkep===
The southwestern city. The city where most foreign trade is conducted. It is technically ruled by Knight-Commander Dame Yari, a cousin of the king, but most day to day decisions are made by a mayor and council, elected by the guilds with the assent of Dame Yari.

Approximately 6000 people live in Rivkep at any time, with several hundred of them being travelers passing through for trade.

The Rivkep Patrol keeps watch over the Cold River, which flows nearby, watching for smuggling, collecting taxes, and enforcing tolls.

Dame Yari is, by all accounts, more interested in falconry, horse riding, and tournaments than in governance, but the city does well under her benign neglect.
===Lakkep===
The northeastern city. It serves as a shield against the wilds of the north, but also as a source of food from the fishing fleets on the Gray Lake. Great wagons filled with barrels of live fish travel the Northern Royal Road between Lakkep and Scarpkep. It is ruled by Knight-Commander Sir Havan, another cousin of the king. He maintains a council of advisors, drawn from the different interests within the city, but reserves ultimate authority to himself.

Approximately 4000 people live in Lakkep, not all of them voluntarily. It is a common practice to sentence lawbreakers from across Fourlan to serve aboard the fishing fleets/

A large garrison of soldiers is kept at Lakkep to fend off orcs and other monsters that spill out of the badlands to the south.

Sir Havan is a rather sarcastic individual, who likes to keep his men, and his subjects, a bit off balance at all times. Which doesn't make him particularly popular.
===Farkep===
The southeastern city, on the far side of the Frost Range. Crown Prince Kyton's city and personal fiefdom. More of a citadel than a city, it serves as the shield against any enemies trying to use the High Pass to cross the Frost Range.

About 8000 people, including the Army, live in Farkep.

It is sustained by the small amount of trade coming from the east, and by the taxes collected by the other cities. The Army of Fourlan is stationed at Farkep, and sees plenty of action against raids from the Orc Lord's domain. Prince Kyton usually leads from the front, and a renowned swordsman. He is charismatic, kind, and generous, well-loved by both his soldiers and the citizens of Farkep.

He is known to have slain a blue dragon in single combat, and wears its hide as armor. He wields the royal greatsword ''Torcleaver'', which gives its wielder greater strength the longer a battle lasts.
===The Countryside===
Outside of the four cities, the are many small villages, mainly along the Cold River and the Northern Royal road. Roughly 3000 people altogether live outside the cities.

===The Ferril Forrest===
An ancient forest south and east of Scarkep and west of Lakkep. Home to all sorts of monsters. Giant wolves, giant spiders, the wandering bones of long slain souls, ankhegs, stranged winged octopus creatures, and who knows what else. Deep within the forest can be found the crumbling ruins of some forgotten city.
===The Frost Range===
A mighty mountain range, covered in snow all year round. Treacherous to cross even in the summer, it's even worse at other times of the year, and only fools, or the truly desperate would try in winter, except at the High Pass, where the way is kept clear all year round. Monstrous bears that never hibernate roam the slopes, as well as other rarer monsters than are, if lucky, only glimpsed by travelers from afar.
===The Badlands===
The land between the Ferril Forrest and the Frost Range. Home to orcs, who grow from the shattered rocks, ghouls, when the Moon is new, and even a dragon of some sort. A desolate, unforgiving place.
