'''Background'''

Buzzkill was born to Thomas (Tom) and Deborah (Deb) Thornton, in a small town. Deb was, sadly, mentally unstable, and her insane jealousy drove her husband to leave.

Deb, driven to fury, took out her anger on her only child, who not only had her husband's name but also strongly resembled him. Anything he loved, including the family pet,  was a target, so he soon learnt not to care about others. Finally, driven past endurance, he ran away from home, where he soon encountered more cruelty and indifference.

After gaining his powers, he took the name of Buzzkill, at the same time as taking on a string of aliases. Due to the abuse he suffered, he hated his real name, and he legally changed it as soon as he could. He worked as a mercenary for hire, caring only but his pay.

At the end of one mission, his then partner, Monolith, betrayed him, leaving him to die in a collapsing building. It was only the intervention of Captain Thunder that saved his life.

Now, he sits in his prison cell,  wishing revenge against the man who betrayed him.
