Thrice-Radiant Ping is the daughter of [[Flesh-Devouring TigerWAS|Flesh-Devouring Tiger]], a warlord renowned for his prowess and savagery stationed at the border to fend off the irrepressible barbarians.  Tiger was the senior student of the legendary Iron Wolf of Shen Zhou, the honorable scion of an ancient style of Kung Fu.  Tiger killed his master and the other senior disciples, earning a fearsome name for himself and becoming the sole keeper of many of the styles secrets.  Though it was never proven just how he did it, the fights were each in openly-declared matches that left no legal openings for official reprisal.  He has leveraged that power into a highly-sought military position, commanding the forces that patrol the Great Wall against the roaming barbarian tribes that constantly seek to scourge the Empire.

Ping's mother is a barbarian princess of the steppes, granted as a bride to Flesh-Devouring Tiger to seal a peace treaty after he conquered their tribe to put a stop to their raids.  Unwavering Sunflower has imparted her own brand of wisdom to her daughter, it is from her that Thrice-Radiant Ping has learned that one only becomes a victim if you allow yourself to.  She has never been heard to complain and only historians know that she did not enter into her marriage out of love.  Largely unknown, she is also the keeper of a complete ''Heavens Boundless Prosperity'' manual, a rare ultimate collection of techniques that focus on combining internal techniques and understanding of the body's workings to bring one's true potential out.  The existence of her tribe is simply a cover for the sect that is sworn to protect the writings and pass them on to a worthy successor.
