Sophie: Maria and Jacqueline's Maid of All Work, managed by Berthe. Stats: 17 years old, auburn haired, green eyed, redhead fair; does all household tasks; French.

Backstory



Prologue


March 17, 1867 - Blind Alley ––– Prologue: In which Jacquiline and Maria fight free of thugs, a mage, and persons unknown.

March 1867: Paris


March 18, 1867 - Cipher ––– One of the attackers from battle in Blind Alley ends up in the morgue with Jacqueline's carte de visite in a pocket. Inspector Dreyfus of the Paris Gendarmes questions Jacqueline. A package for Maria from Giovanni Schiaparelli holds photographs, a coded Morse message, and a plea to deliver the contents to Lord Kelvin at the Exposition, due to open in two weeks' time.
