Backstory

Aggripina Delvinia was born in an engine room during the feast of all souls at the battle of Jarim, where Battlefleet Calixis won a great victory against an Ork warfleet. The daughter of that ship's captain, she was expected to either be married off to another noble fleet based line or sent to Academy to become an officer.

Being brought up onboard an Imperial Battleship, machinery and people kind of blurred for the girl. She showed a knack for the sciences, and devoured knowledge greedily. Much to her family's chagrin, she ran away to the Lathe worlds and presented herself as a servant of the Omnissiah, ready to serve the steel god in whatever way she could. Never ones to waste material, the masters of Het-Lathe ruthlessly evaluated the girl. Having grown up in the high pressure world of the battlefleet, adjusting to living and working on a Forge World was no great challenge. While more attuned to the Imperial Faith than most Forge World natives, Aggripina enthustiacally took to the Credo Omnissiah. With her only political weakness being a refusal to abandon human emotion, Aggripina took the clever position that emotions, being chemical processes, are necessary elements of sentient beings as manifested by the Omnissiah and the Universal Laws, reinforcing the prohibition against abominable intelligences and neatly tying in to the manifestation of the Omnissiah known as the Emperor, who was the perfect man-god who teaches passion, zeal and faith. Emotions are programming in the perfect machine, man. This of course made the brilliant Tech Priestess a maverick within the ranks of the priests of mars, but well within the boundaries of the Universal Laws and the Credo Omnissiah. Her natural charisma, charm and commanding presence also carried her through. She was sent back to Battlefleet Calixis as an Enginseer, ready to apprentice herself to the master shipwrights of the fleet and return to the place she always felt at home - the Navy - which she never truly abandoned. A journeyman Shipwright, she looked forward to caring for the ships she regarded as kin as much as her own flesh and blood family.

The one challenge came when her vessel was transferred - to the Jericho Reach. Perhaps due to her ability to relate to individuals, she served for a time with the Crucible Resolviate, undertaking to support the holy work of the mighty Deathwatch. She lived for 20 years amidst the Space Marines, learning their lore, listening to their stories, recording their defeats and victories, and learning the Armorer's trade in the bowels of Watch Fortress Erioch, crafting the mighty weapons of the Astartes. She steered clear of the Ordos Xenos except as to interact with them through the Cult Mechanicus, since she heard that Tech Priests who go away to serve Inquisitors never return. During that time, she becames a skilled Medicae, and assisted in alien dissections, working with injured Astartes to balance their implants and see to their health, and to work with strange and dangerous Xenotech. She was almost possessed by a Yuvath mimetic virus - it was fortunately stopped in time, but she saw for the briefest of moments the horrors of the Warp. What she saw, she does not remember, but has terrible, terrible dreams of alien landscapes, strange languages and terrifying secrets. Thankfully, her faith in the Omnissiah and her will was strong. This hardened what she already believed - that the human form is the perfect expression of the Omnissiah, and that Alien, the Witch and the Mutant must not be allowed to live.

After her time with the Deathwatch, she was informed of an opportunity to work with a Rogue Trader vessel by her own family back in Battlefleet Calixis. Instead of waiting decades to become an Enginseer Prime, she can become one, right now! With the sanction of her superiors at the Lathes, she now sets out to join a crew of bold explorers!
