Conversations Out of Time

Language and Sorcery

Subsequent to the uncovering of evidence that the Enochian of the Seventh Age (WoD) might well be the same language as the Old Realm of the First Age (Exalted) this fragment of a conversation was found. It's a ripped up piece of paper annotated with time/date/location as well as file number and a reference to the recording agency - but all the specifics have been blacked out.

It's a valid assumption, that Old Realm was the first language in the reality of Exalted. It doesn't have to be, though. What if Old Realm is not the first language at all? Maybe it's 'merely' the language in which the Primordial treaty of surrender was written. That treaty and the subsequent imprisonment of the Primordials has redefined both them and Creation, making it the fundamental language of the *new* reality that exists after the Primordial War.

Demons speak Old Realm, because that language has been forced on them, is part of their bindings. Gods speak Old Realm, because it is the language of their victory, the language of the redefined, newly anthropocentric Creation (which in turn causes the gods to become anthropomorphic themselves). Raksha speak Old Realm, because as far as they are defined at all they define themselves in relation to Creation. And everyone else speaks/spoke Old Realm, because it's the lingua franka and for the Exalted it is a reminder of their victory in every word.

What would be the original language?

Probably unimaginable to us as is the Creation before the Death of those who became the Neverborn and She Who Lives In Her Name's extinction of parts of reality. But I suppose it would have to be fluid - or more precisely consist of many interlocking languages, one for each Primordial and the part of reality it defines. If there is a common core, an intersection of those systems of definition, it would be the language the Primordials created in the moment they decided to act together to Shape Creation. The different species of beings that lived before the Primordial War and the mass-genocide the Exalted wrought would have spoken different subsets of that language according to which Primordial created them.

You know what it could be? The language of Sorcery. You can alter the world with those words, backed by essence.

How about it being the language of Infernal Sorcery? After all it would draw upon concepts and powers that belong to a Creation before the War, of a Creation ruled by the Primordials. So in shaping reality through those words you return it to what it was in the beginning and assert Primordial rulership-by-proxy over it. That would make sense in the context of sorcery being originally taught to Brigid by demons. "Here, have a gift of great power, that weakens our prison every time you use it."

Only then Brigid - being a Solar - found a way to do the previously impossible, to employ Old Realm as language of sorcery and in doing so defeated that insidious Yozi plot. That interpretation would IMO improve her story as well. Rather than just crying and being handed Sorcery by someone else, she is an active and decisive force in the creation of Sorcery.

Ice Cream and Prophecy

Following Cassidy's sudden outburst of prophecy due to her Unbidden Oracle the powers of Night and Zenith meet to talk.

Liz: "You know, what you said earlier, is it really *written*? 'cause if it is, I never heard that passage before ..."

Liz: "Not that I have heard many passages in total, but one would think something like this would stick out ... or show up in a google search"

Cassidy: "Shut up, Liz. >_< "

Cassidy: "The quote I INTENDED was 'Behold, we cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see us, and they also which pierced us: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of us!'"

Liz: "Oh. Well, that would have worked as well. Though for sheer intimidation value I think it was just fine."

Cassidy: "I have read the Qu'ran as well just so I can throw their words in their face."

Cassidy: "I didn't MEAN to say it!"

Cassidy: "It's fucking unFAIR. I don't WANT to be some biblical figure who speaks prophecy!"

Cassidy: "I just want to be Cassidy. ._. "

Liz: "You know, I was going to make a joke about freudian slips, but ... prophecy? If that is what it was, that IS scary."

Cassidy: "I have had it before! >_<"

Cassidy: "It's been since last month that I have been doing it too!"

Liz: "So it's like these other funky superpowers, except you can't control it? Maybe you can learn to?"

Cassidy: "I want it off!"

Cassidy: "I don't even know when it happens."

Cassidy: "It's always the worst possible times."

Liz: "It took some time for me to get used to these chi-po ... you don't want it? Can I have it then? Seems to be it would be pretty cool to know stuff in advance. Well, probably boring sometimes, but if you could switch it on and off ..."

Cassidy: "I... I don't think I can."

Cassidy: "Didn't you hear it in the fight? The only reason why I shut UP was because of Todd shooting me."

Liz: "Actually at that time I was a little busy with some sort of nightmare-spirit-thing, so I didn't catch ALL of it ... How does it feel? It must be very strange ..."

Cassidy: "... Misty?"

Cassidy: "I guess it's like I'm supposed to be a musical instrument?

Liz: "Played by someone else? Ouch. I can see why you don't like it then."

Cassidy: "Well, did it at least sound decent? =_="

Liz: "Hah. That thing I fought shook the room with its roar, but I still heard you. And besides the volume it was quite badass. Awesome smack talk, as I said."

Cassidy: "Just... gah... I'm going to go get a hug from Robert and cry myself to sleep. Tears help with stress."

Liz: "Hey, we survived. Think positive!"

Cassidy: "I think positive during it."

Cassidy: "I do my breakdowns when it's mostly safe."

Cassidy: "Hysterics are best done with cheap romance novels, ice cream, and something to hug."

Liz: "I prefer breaking other things to breaking down, but your way seems to be less expensive ;)."

Cassidy: "Depends on the ice cream.  ;)"

Cassidy: "I have been known to choke my stress with really pricey sushi."

Liz: "Mind if I join you for the that, the ice cream I mean? Because that is a good idea."

Cassidy: "Let's ask the Fire girl too and we can make it a bit of a girl's night. :D"

Liz: "Sounds good!"

Of Gods and Men in Black

Liz: "So, what did you do on your astral journey?"

Cassidy: "Ended up meeting a bunch of gods, I can't remember jack shit about most of it, and got brought back?"

Cassidy: ... She'd probably end up with one of the hunters adding that she JUMPED OFF A FUCKING BUILDING and scared a vampire so hard that she made him run like a bitch.

Liz: "Ah. Good work then!"

---

Liz: *Liz steps back into the real world* "Huh, that was weird. It's like someone way up there went all 'gee, this day hasn't been crazy enough by far'. Just my luck."

Cassidy: "... Trust me. You don't know the half of it."

Liz: "I'm absolutely happy with knowing only the important parts. Too much knowing usually ends in tears."

Cassidy: "Funny, I haven't cried yet."

Cassidy: "... But if I don't get a pint of ice cream and a break in the next day, I will begin screaming."

Liz: "Yeah, a break would be nice. Although, before the whole zombie mass murder thing started the craziness was kinda fun."

Cassidy: "I have been having fun, I'll admit that."

Cassidy: "But I need ice cream and a gallon of hot tea badly."

Cassidy: "Or lemons."

Cassidy: "Or honey."

Liz: "A shower alone would be heaven right now."

Cassidy: "... Good point. And new clothes."

Cassidy: "... We probably should see if Jian's fiance wants to get some stuff too."

Liz: "There's still zombie stuff all over my favourite top :(."

Cassidy: "I want to get clothes that aren't bleached..."

Liz: "Yeah. And find some place far away from here, free of zombies, vampires and men in black."

Cassidy: "Men in black?"

Liz: "Did I tell you about the Men in Black? Probably forgot what with the apocalypse and all."

Cassidy: "It's not the end of the world."

Liz: "Well, it could be. Zombie movies always start small - and we're kinda past 'small' already."

Liz: "Not that it's going to be, but ..."

Liz: "Anyway, this morning there were some weird government-type people after me. As it turned out they were robots, too."

Liz: *shrugs* "In light of later events it doesn't seem so strange anymore."

Cassidy: "I ended up inspiring a bunch of people to be able to kill a zombie with a hockey stick. O_o"

Liz: "Oooh, that's cool! I was a little worried about those people that wanted to come with us, but apparently that worked out fine."

Liz: "So, are they like us or different?"

Cassidy: "I sort of think... a watered down version?"

Cassidy: "That's what the god who asked me to do the inspiring said I think. O_o I remember realizing he could do it and thought it was a brillaint idea."

Liz: "Huh? Oh right, you mentioned gods ... it wasn't 'our' god, though?"

Cassidy: "No."

Cassidy: "But he was sort of behind it or something? I can't remember much over the whole golden haze thing."

Liz: "Oh well. Maybe we can look him up the next time we get trapped in the spirit world. He'd probably know all about this stuff."

Cassidy: "I think he'll turn up."

Cassidy: "The guy being the Maiden of 'Malificient Fate' and all."

Liz: "So HE is the one that's responsible for my keys always ending up in gully holes?"

Liz: "In that case I'll have a few things to tell him about ..."

Liz: "Seriously, that flower pot this one time ... no WAY that could have been pure bad luck!"

Cassidy: "... A flowerpot?"

Liz: "It fell on me. Without reason. I hadn't done anything to provoke it!"

Liz: "Anyway, that's not that important right now. First things first!"

Cassidy: "Baths, food, and sleep."

Liz: "Sounds heavenly."

AstraKiseki: She WOULD try to drag Sui Mae into it, especially since it's another girl. XD

Dakkareth: It's inevitable :p

AstraKiseki: All three of them talking and Cassidy getting way too embarrassed when it comes to sex...

Rob in a Suit

AstraKiseki: Still, it'll be funny to see Cassidy act like a blushing schoolgirl after seeing Robert in a suit.

Cassidy: "What? >.> He looks good in a suit."

Liz: "Nothing. And yes, he does."

Cassidy: "I wonder how the others will look."

Liz: "Only one way to find out! Dress up day!"

Cassidy: "I do that every day at my old job anyways.  :D"

Liz: "I don't. But for the sake of the greater good I'll play along."

Liz: "So, what's our excuse?"

Cassidy: "I'm sure we can find a dress you can run in. Hm. Is it anyone's birthday?"

Liz: "We'll ask around and do a belated party for whoever is closest."

  • Insert OOC replies about birthdays here

Dubious Martial Arts

AstraKiseki:Cassidy wants to spar with pretty much everyone, but it won't be what everyone thinks of. :D

AstraKiseki: She will want to try wrestling with everyone, laughing and trying to half-pummel people.

Dakkareth: *Liz assumes acomplex martial arts stance* * is tackled* ?

AstraKiseki: Yep.

AstraKiseki: And "Say it!' "Say WHAT?" "UNCLE!  :D"

Gods, Spirits and the Meaning of Life

Astra: ... I'm tempted to have Cassidy and Liz meet up, with her face and hair and clothes covered in gore and dead flesh.

Dakkareth: Liz already got the spell-implosion and possibly now fire anima. Amusing image to have them meet like that. "Oh dear. Fire isn't fun, but I wouldn't want to switch with you."

Cassidy: "Well, at least I killed a few more zombies like that."

Cassidy: "Not too pleased what happened beforehand, but all and all, better me against the zombies..."

Liz: "That's ... good, I guess. Not really liking what they leave behind, though."

Cassidy: "Better than the blood of our friends."

Astra: (ironic, she would have had blood of her allies on her; she got hit in the face with blood)

Liz: "Oh. Yes. Better than that."

Liz: "I suppose I wouldn't hesitate if the situation was like that, but ... I don't know, maybe I have a weak stomach or something."

Liz: "One more reason to cleanse them all, with fire preferably?"

Cassidy: "No, I just have a really strong one. :D"

Cassidy: "Robert almost vomited when we found one back in Henderson."

Liz: "It bugs me, too. I mean, I'm not afraid of them, but somehow, somehow the smell just gets to me."

Cassidy: "They scare me, but honestly, I just... have to suck it up and fight."

Cassidy: "I'm more frightened of fur.  :S"

Liz: "Yeah. No way around our responsibility. But from now on I'll have nose plugs prepared for the next time."

Liz: "Fur? Why fur?"

Cassidy: "... You know how Sui Mae was crazy?"

Cassidy: "And trying to kill you?"

Cassidy: "Well, guess what."

Liz: "Yeah? Not fun, that."

Cassidy: "He tried /crushing/ me in his arms. D:"

Liz: "Ouch. That must have been a nasty surprise."

Cassidy: "Not... as much as throttling one of the wolves.  :S"

Cassidy: "And killing several before trying to kill me."

Cassidy: "I did shake him out of it..."

Cassidy: "My brother would be sympathetic to him, at least."

Cassidy: "I kicked him in the... um..."

Cassidy: "*cough*"

Liz: " Shit, really? And they were putting all their hopes into him as well. That craziness thing must have hit him hard."

Cassidy: "They still do."

Cassidy: "And are a little unsettled that I smacked him and told him to stop mourning."

Liz: "Sui Mae was pretty out of it as well and she almost killed Darius, but at least no one actually died."

Liz: "Oh, there? Did it work ?"

Cassidy: "That did, but it that was after I kicked him as hard as I could, screaming for him to snap out of it."

Liz: (insert an amused eyebrow raise there)

Cassidy: "I sort of have done it to my little brother before too."

Liz: "Not the nicest move, but in desperation who judges the means?"

Cassidy: "Yeah..."

Cassidy: "It's sort of funny though. It made me miss Nathan."

Liz: "Me and my sister, we didn't fight much. Not like that anyway. And after her accident I had this irrational fear that if I brought her along to the dojo she'd get hurt again."

Liz: "Where's he now? I take it he doesn't live in Las Vegas?"

Cassidy: "Nah, I'm not a local here. I came about two years ago."

Cassidy: "Nate would be about 18 by now."

Liz: "Funny that, Julia just turned 18 as well. We're a little less apart, I guess."

Liz: "So, where do you come from?"

Cassidy: "I'm actually a Southern girl. I don't wanna give away where, though."

Cassidy: "I worked on the drawl so that no one figures it out."

Liz: "Heh. I probably wouldn't anyway. Not without some more time spent here anyway."

Cassidy: "Heh."

Cassidy: "Well, Nathan was a little snot sometimes, but everyone liked him. XD"

Liz: "Some people have all the luck. Not that I always was a saint, and yet here I am, with gods and cosmic forces liking me enough to make me all shiny."

Liz: "So I guess, maybe I'm one of them. :p"

Liz: "It might just be my weird luck though. Who knows? Well, I *want* to know but I'm not really sure who to ask ..."

Cassidy: "I was the stubborn one of the family."

Cassidy: "I guess it's just we had the potential of being heroes?"

Liz: "Or maybe that. That is a more comforting thought."

Cassidy: "Um...."

Cassidy: "I met one of the gods at fault?  :D"

Liz: "So did Darius apparently. And some other cosmic bigwigs as well. Of course, assholes that those seemed to be I can understand he didn't ask them many question."

Liz: "I just got a mean old spirit of fear."

Liz: "Working for that eeeeevil demon guy as well. He probably wouldn't have been very helpful and we were in something of a hurry anyway."

Liz: "So, a honest to god, um, god? What did he say?"

Cassidy: "... I can't remember."

Cassidy: "I was sort of in a weird state of mind."

Liz: "Oh. :("

Liz: "But yeah, that spirit layer realm world thingie does weird things to your mind."

Cassidy: "O_< that is all I'll say."

Cassidy: "Oh Sun, tell me about it. D:"

Cassidy: "I was in fucking Greek goddess clothes."

Liz: "Apparently I spent some time as a big glowy set of scales and I talked all formal and courtroom-like."

Cassidy: "... You?"

Cassidy: "... pffffttt.... XD"

Liz: "Yeah. As I said, weird things. At least sometime during that semi-blackout I knocked Brown on his ass. That's something positive about the whole embodying abstract symbols thing, at least."

Liz: "Palmer was a pair of giant hands when I first saw him over there. He changed back rather quickly, so I'm not sure how strange he was. Johnny just called everyone 'my lord' and 'my lady' even when he remembered to speak English."

Cassidy: "Um... He called me Holy One."

Liz: "Strangely enough I was 'my lord' to him. Considering the stuff I must have said, I won't hold it against him, though :p."

Liz: " 'Holy One', that's nice. The next time we go on a quick spirit realm joyride we should bring a camera. That would be fun!"

Liz: "I can just see half the internet scratching their heads about that."

Cassidy: "Fuck no."

Liz: "Huh? Why not?"

Cassidy: "I... I got too fucking unsettled in there."

Liz: "Well, we'd need a reliable way back and ... *shrug* Maybe not immediately. Eventually people have to know about this, though. We can't leave them in the dark about something like that. Just like with vampires and all the other stuff."

Cassidy: "I heard prayers."

Cassidy: "And no one else can hear them."

Cassidy: "There's no one out there who hears."

Liz: "Prayers? Like voices talking to you?"

Cassidy: "Yes. And it wasn't just one."

Cassidy: "I heard all of them."

Cassidy: "Anyone in Vegas begging to a god."

Liz: "Wow. That's ... I'm not sure what that is. It would certainly creep me the hell out."

Cassidy: "Here's the kicker, I got hit with them the moment I went in."

Liz: "Oh :s. I can see why you wouldn't want to return then. Must be harsh."

Liz: "All those people asking for help. I mean, in my most grandiose moments I like to think that I'm meant to save the world. But having that responsibility dropped on you all in one piece? That must be hard."

Cassidy: "I... ended up singing back, at least."

Cassidy: "I don't know if it worked."

Liz: "A bit of hope? Just knowing that someone's out there? I figure that would be nice, if it worked."

Cassidy: "And inspiration.  :D"

Liz: "What is hope without inspiration anyway?"

Liz: "Maybe that's what you're meant for."

Cassidy: "Maybe."

Cassidy: "I... I think I have another purpose as well, but we'll see."

Life, Love and Fairy Tales

Liz: *on the way to LA, already driving long enough to be bored* "Hey Cassidy?"

Cassidy: "Hm?"

Liz: "Back in Vegas I noticed you managed to get those cages open with just a hairpin - you do that a lot?"

Liz: "I mean, like a hobby? Surely you can't sing all day ..."

Cassidy: *grins* "No, not really. I learned how to do something simple like that since there were a bunch of old locks used around the house when I was a kid."

Cassidy: "It's easy to jimmy that sort of thing. I can't do it to anything fancy."

Liz: "Ah. I'm not even sure I could do it with just a hairpin, I've kinda gotten used to the tools."

Liz: "Must haven been useful as a kid, though. No one to lock away the cookies."

Cassidy: "I'm not *good* at it. And I didn't use it for that, it was more of so I could go outside and all."

Liz: "Still useful. Arguable the best use for it there is."

Liz: "And it's how I learned this lock picking stuff. Well, actually not just to go outside but to go most anywhere that's locked for no good reason."

Liz: "There's all kinds of interesting places in a city, if you know where to look and get the right doors open. Some of those are pretty nice for running too, if sometimes dangerous."

Cassidy: "I didn't really spend a lot of time in a city before I moved here... Oh geez, it was weird the first few months."

Liz: "Heh. I grew up a city kid, I'd probably be weirded out by living out in the country."

Cassidy: "Back where I grew up, it was a small town and all, and my little brother would romp around while I made sure he kept out of trouble... And kicked his ass if he tried to fight it."

Cassidy: "It can be weird, but it's... slower there."

Liz: "I'm not much for slow. I get bored way to quickly."

Cassidy: "That's what the back 40 is for.  :P"

Cassidy: "My brother used to dare me to try eating stuff we found. Ate a slug once when I was 13."

Liz: "Eurgh."

Liz: *thoughtful look* "How'd it taste?"

Cassidy: "Sort of like salty leaves? Gooey too. I more of put it in my mouth and then spat it at him."

Liz: "Heh. So, not recommending it?"

Cassidy: "If I was hungry enough, I'd eat it."

Cassidy: "But I'd eat anything, including my own awful cooking."

Liz: "Anyway, I had this one friend, a little on the strange side - all into conspiracies and UFOs - who did this thing called 'urban exploration'. Apparently while there aren't many corners of the earth still unexplored by humankind, our cities have become so complex so stacked up on older structures and buildings, that nobody really knows all of it anymore. So these people go and explore all kinds

Liz: of old buildings, tunnels, abandoned subway connections, old war bunkers. It's actually pretty exciting as long as you don't do it all day."

Liz: "Of course many of those places you aren't supposed to go and so they're locked up. So for the really interesting parts you need to pick a few locks as well. Good think there's all sorts of clubs and magazines for that. Anyway, that's where I learned this kind of stuff myself."

Cassidy: "I just got sent to my room enough that I started to jimmy stuff and sneak in and out."

Liz: "It's the same principle - break out of the arbitrary limits set upon you and free yourself. That's why I actually sat down long enough to learn it. It's not just a skill, it's activism, a social statement and character building."

Cassidy: "The closest thing I did like that is tell people off in a very public way."

Liz: "Why should other people tell me where I can and cannot go as long as I'm not hurting anyone?"

Cassidy: "Because people want their secrets? Because some dumbasses think that sacred ground is only for those who hold it sacred?"

Cassidy: "It's not really important, with the whole 'I'm walking sacred ground' thing.

Liz: "Well, I wouldn't go into someone's house, that just wouldn't be right. But everything else? Fair game I say."

Liz: "And some secrets need to be lifted. Like this whole Masquerade thing Rosa talked about."

Cassidy: "I think we are sort of ripping that off a bit hard."

Liz: "Sacred ground? I'm not sure what you're getting at there ..."

Cassidy: "I apparently am holy? Well, several people said that, including Johnny."

Cassidy: "And the whole freaking out the guy who nailed me with a cross after I swore I'd only serve the Sun."

Liz: *shrugs* "Huh. I don't really know what to do or think about that. Sacred things, religion and such hasn't been a big thing in my life."

Liz: "I guess since there's a god somewhere who chose us ... but then, I haven't talked to him, so what do I know?"

Cassidy: "He... We are sort of a memory, from what I got told."

Cassidy: "We are pieces of his power from really long ago."

Liz: "Powerful memory then, if it results in powers like ours."

Cassidy: "Well, he WAS the original Sun."

Liz: "And that's the point where it gets confusing, actually like most of the time where gods and religion come into play. If he was the sun, then who or what is the sun now? And how does that work with physics and astronomy and stuff like that?"

Liz: "And what happened to him?"

Cassidy: "I know the new sun is a fake, according to someone who explained it, but... Don't know what fully happened, other than falling."

Liz: "Mmh, that sounds like one of those aztec myths where some monster thing eats the sun. Or was that some other myth? I don't know."

Liz: "So we are relics of some other time, a different age ... that actually fits with one pretty crazy dream I had before everything went apocalyptic in Vegas."

Cassidy: "... You had a dream?"

Liz: "Yeah, or a nightmare since it was pretty scary. And the weird thing is, usually I forget my dreams pretty quickly, but this one's here to stay."

Liz: "I'm not sure how to describe it, it was like ... memories. Memories in fast-forward, from a golden age to decadence, to death and becoming an even worse monster, then half an eternity later back into the world, only it was ours then and finally to Las Vegas ..."

Liz: "It's like I touched someone's memories, Her memories, and then She looked back at me." *she shudders* "That sounds pretty crazy, doesn't it?"

Cassidy: "... No, it doesn't."

Cassidy: "R-rob had a dream too, involving a monster..."

Liz: "Oh?"

Cassidy: "I don't remember much about what he mentioned. I ended up waking up in a panic and hitting a wall, and then he came in and talked to me."

Liz: "Still, good to know I'm not alone with the weird dreams."

Cassidy: "Nope, you aren't the only one."

Cassidy: "We have such a long ass road ahead..."

Liz: "Of course, the less likely it is that I'm crazy the scarier it gets. I don't much care for someone like Her in my mind."

Cassidy: "Her?"

Liz: "Well, you know."

Liz: *vague gesture* "Ms. Reign of Terror, Queen of the Damned, Goddess of Vampires, et cetera, et cetera."

Cassidy: "... Oh. The bitch."

Liz: "Yeah. Giving her funny names is harder when I remember that dream. So I try not to."

Liz: "And I can go pretty far on not thinking at all, which is a good thing there."

Cassidy: "It's pretty easy when I'm pissed."

Cassidy: "She... somehow, she made Robert go nuts and try to kill me."

Liz: "So that's what that was about? That must have been terrifying."

Cassidy: *grimaces* "Never going to wear fur, ever."

Cassidy: "I guess there is one part that I look back and laugh?"

Cassidy: "I brought him out of it by kicking him."

Cassidy: "In the groin."

Liz: "For both of you, actually. Someone else making you do things, that's pretty much my worst nightmare. Even just this one vampire with the sword trying to make me afraid of him, that was awful, but something like that? I'd go crazy."

Liz: "Hence my not being happy about that dream of mine."

Liz: "And ouch. But I guess, if it worked it was a good thing."

Cassidy: "Try... try thinking you could trust someone completely, but then finding out that someone could use that against you."

Cassidy: "I fucking kicked him in the balls, screaming at him. I'm still amazed I didn't feel gross afterwards."

Liz: "That's horrible as well."

Liz: "But why gross?"

Cassidy: *turns red* "Um, I kicked a guy there?"

Liz: *puzzled look* "I'd get empathic pain, but it's not like you, um, ..."

Cassidy: "I'm a prude, okay?" >_< "I used to go run to wash my hands after punching guys who bullied my brother.

Liz: "Ah."

Cassidy: "For pete's sake, it's weird enough that I'm comfortable with him, even if I get worried now..."

Liz: "That on the other hand I get, even if not being in the same situation I can't understand completely. This whole previous-life-marriage alone is a lot to deal with."

Liz: "And then this - I'm not sure how I'd deal with that."

Liz: "Or if I could."

Cassidy: "I'm going to work on trusting him again. It's not fair that he got used."

Cassidy: "I'm working on it."

Liz: "It's not fair to either of you, but it's good if you're working on it."

Cassidy: "Granted, I have an idea for a bit of a prank that may piss him off, but it will be worth it. XD"

Liz: "Trust can be hard, though."

Cassidy: "I know... But I think the past life thing may help."

Liz: "How does it feel, having known him before? Do you have memories from that other life? I can't really imagine what it would be like to meet someone for the first time but have - somehow - known him, have been married to him for years and years."

Cassidy: "I don't remember anything, I just... feel safer around him. Like I know he'll come if I ask. I know that the first thing, once I sort of came to myself in the Umbra, I thought about was wondering where he was."

Cassidy: "It's fucking weird when you figured you would die an old spinster, with a lot of cats and kids that you babysit."

Liz: "It would be nice, I suppose, to meet someone and just know that it has worked between you before, that you are meant to be together."

Liz: "But I wouldn't be entirely sure about this reincarnation business. What if the weirdness comes between me and him? And I wouldn't want to just slavishly reenact some previous life, either."

Liz: *grins* "On the other hand in that situation I might not worry about that at all. Who knows."

Cassidy: "Either way, I'm still going to mess with him. XD It's almost Halloween and I ended up picking up something before we left Vegas."

Liz: "He's in the other car, so do tell!" :)

Cassidy: "I got a costume. Here's a clue. Red."

Liz: *laughs* "Oooooohh, red riding hood? That's twisted. I like it!"

Cassidy: "Yes, and I couldn't resist when I went to that shop to get clothes. XD"

Liz: "Oh, I do want to see his face when you put it to use."

Cassidy: "So, do you think he'll choke?"

Liz: *grins* "That would depend on how revealing the costume is, I'd guess."

Liz: "And once he makes the connection it's probably fifty-fifty."

Cassidy: "Did you see what I was wearing at the Star the first night? Short skirt, long sleeves?"

Cassidy: "Remove the sleeves, give me gloves and a cape."

Liz: "Mmh, I'll go with 'yes' then."

Cassidy: "I even have a basket.  :D"

Liz: "With pie and wine?"

Liz: "Good for a picnic, too."

Cassidy: "Well, I was thinking more of bread, an apple, and a comb..."

Cassidy: "I need some sort of offense."

Cassidy: "And I don't drink... wine."

Cassidy: *sticks out her tongue and makes fangy sounds*

Liz: "Just going with the classics there. Although there are probably lots of different versions of that tale."

Cassidy: "I don't know the original."

Liz: "Possibly even one where Red Riding Hood and the Wolf leave grandma alone and go to save the world."

Cassidy: "Well, we could dress Gabe in drag and have him come along as grandma."

Liz: *laughs* "And Darius could be the huntsman."

Liz: "And we others could chose different fairy tale characters and join in as a cross-over."

Cassidy: "Hah."

Cassidy: "So... We'd need something for John, you, Johnny, and Sui Mae."

Liz: "Yeah. It's been a long time since my father read us fairy tales, though ..."

Cassidy: "Mine considered them... well, they read from the bible more."

Liz: "Awww, but that's no fun to listen to before going to sleep."

Cassidy: "Mine weren't fun."

Liz: "Mmhh, seems we'll need help from the others to decide on fitting fairy tale characters."
