Background
Angela is the sort of girl who is nice, friendly, and just a little strange. Most people know she is about, because she won't stop making rhythm. The main reason is because she is scared almost shitless of silence. She doesn't trust it, doesn't like it. She can handle things like a nice quiet day, with the echo of the wind in the trees, or being alone with just the splashing of water, but the quiet of a test room? *shiver* Her mp3 player is almost glued to her hip as well.
Angela lives with her maternal uncle and grandparents while in Japan. She had been arranging this for years to visit her mother's family, even before becoming Beat Knight Kiyoko (which, yes, it is her middle name). That is actually why she can speak perfect Japanese; her mother has been dead/missing since Angela was about three years old.
She never abused the lax rules that her father placed on her, her main interest outside of school being music of all sorts. Rhythm drew her faster to parties than anything else, and she never cared about anything else.
During one rave, as she was celebrating music the way she always had, suddenly, everything silenced. Everyone was still moving, as if under a spell, but all she could hear was a heartbeat, and it wasn't her own. Angela slipped her headphones on, and then the pulse began to continue, and she began moving again, now to the beat of the heart as she heard people screaming, wanting to stop. She knew what to do, and then she attacked the source. Something had taken over the node, and she was shielded by the node's heart to defend it.
Afterwards, back at home, as she listened to her music, trying to figure out just what happened, she got an explanation between the beats of sound. She was now the champion of the Heartbeat of the World, the pulse that made people move and music carry emotions, and since then, she has become near obsessed with new music, trying to learn what she can do with it.
Schoolwise, she actually does very well with homework and projects, but due to her phobia of silence, it is much more likely that she will bomb the tests, since she loses it.
Relations
Fei-Yen / Lumina Angela keeps being amused and worried about how shy Fei can be, and tries to keep her from worrying too much. Angela has offered to take her out to go to a rave as well, but no luck yet.
Fuuka / Excelia Both girls are in the same science and math classes, though Angela gets some tutoring, when she needs things clarified.
Yoriko / Yomi Angela hasn't really talked to Yomi, though she has heard about her skill at summoning.
Noriko / Thanasia Angela's maternal family lives a distance away enough that Angela has to take a bicycle to school, and the first time she used the graveyard as a shortcut, she got attacked by one very pissed off Pretty Deathknight. After it got cleared up (and Angela apologized and revealed her own status as a magical girl), the two got on a little more friendly terms. Now, out of respect, Angela now has a playlist of music that she plays while taking the shortcut though the graveyard, which she walks though, instead of riding though.
Angela's Family
The line of women Angela comes from have an unusual potential; that of a magical girl, but that must be shaped by another. Until then, a woman of the Jirikii (the clan with the original gift) line merely has a powerful and untappable potential. That is why Angela was contacted by the Heartbeat. However, in this age, very few people can detect it, let alone tap into it.
Ito Tanebi - Angela's fiery grandmother, she is vaguely aware of the potential that her blood carries, but only because of her very sharp eyes and watching her daughter and granddaughter. She is very traditional, but still, the bonds of tradition merely channel her fire into her spirit and sharp enough eyes. Think the old-fashioned scary grandmother. She doesn't like how people put her daughter on a pedastal, and when she finds a shrine to her daughter, she breaks it apart.
Ito Seishirou - Angela's grandfather is a quiet man, who only fights with his wife over one matter: cooking. He approves of his granddaughter's passion for music, even if he is tone-deaf. He also has an diabolic sense of humor, and a camera. He has plenty of embarrassing pictures of his family, including Angela, explaining that he has to make up for lost time.
Ito Daisuke - A humble company man and Angela's uncle. He can't speak a word of English, and so he calls Angela 'Angi' or by her middle name, Kiyoko. He rides two types of bikes, a bicycle for getting to work and going out with his niece, and a motorcycle for racing.
Kaisei Schildkrote - A popular singer by the name of Ito Kaisei, and Angela's mother, she went missing 13 years ago, leaving a family and a devoted fan base behind. No one knows where she vanished. She was a kind loving woman who adored singing, though she was very embarrassed by the shrines and fans at times. It isn't certain if her potential was awakened.
Ten Random Facts about Angela
- Angela has a habit of copying CDs and selling them at a very low discount (she pretty much has the price as twice the cost of the blank CD, which is much cheaper). She normally does this for techno and mixed CDs only. If it's an album, she won't do it.
- Give her a song, and she'll be able to name the song, the artist, and the album. And possibly sing all of the lyrics.
- Before she got died, Angela's mother was a popular singer, but that was over ten years ago. Angela isn't aware of her mother's fan base, because the memories hurt her father too much. Unfortunately, Angela looks a lot like her mother. If the fans find out that the rumors that she had a daughter are true, and she is in Japan...
- Angela is a klutz on ice skates. Roller blades? Easy. But for some reason, she just can't get the hang of ice stakes.
- Ramen is Angela's crack. She almost always has ramen for lunch.
- As Kiyoko, she hasn't really had a true villain to face against, just individual enemies trying to take control of the moving node in the city that she lived in. She actually arranged for it to be 'centered and sealed' as to keep it safe and able to be protected by other magical girls.
- Romance? She has been... haunted by dreams of a masked young man, and he actually speaks with her. She hasn't seen him yet, though. But god, she is besotted with his voice, and she can't seem to gather any other sort of romantic interest. Theme for this: Another Night, Another Dream, by Real McCoy.
- Her bedroom is rather plain looking. She doesn't need much, though there is her computer, her wardrobe, and her bed. It's cramped to Angela's point of view, but also cozy.
- Being an attractive gaijin, Angela has been hit on enough she now wears a baseball cap or something to hide her long blonde hair when she is out and about. She removes it at school, around Fei-Yen (she is prettier and gets more attention), and when she is with her family (Obaa-san complains if she hides her 'beautiful hair' in her presence, and the woman would kill her granddaughter if she ever dyed her hair).
- Angela is almost always escorted to school by her uncle, since his work is on route. Both ride their bicycles.
- When Angela is all alone and listening to Hotei, she will begin doing air-guitar and singing. She isn't aware that her grandmother has a picture of her doing this.
