Devoid of Due Consideration

Thunderous doom who drowns all screams. Earth-shaking rumble of scientific triumph. The burning roar that brings a final silence. Avid bird watcher.

SOCIAL

Virtues

  • Major: Justice

Engraved into her heart, her substrates, her very base-layer: the core of Due Consideration. Justice. Wreak bloody vengeance against those who'd wrong your people. Find them. Flay them. Long years may have softened this calling, but the drums never stopped beating. Not really. They are incessant. And they resound even in the dark...

  • Minor: Loyalty

Better, she thinks, than lonely missions away from those you care for. Better, she thinks, than the constant coming home to the damage and decay of change after long days away. Loyalty. Stand by those you care for. Be there for them. It's a more honest way of life.

EXALT

Soulsteel Alchemical

Exalt Milestone: gained by punishing the wicked or assisting another character with vengeance or attaining a just outcome. I determine what Connie deems wicked or just.

  • Living Artefact

You are a machine - as much an artefact as a living person. You can hold an artefact to install one of its Evocations as your own Charm during the Rite of Reconfiguration (you must meet its prerequisites). Once installed, you can use the Evocation as if it were an innate Charm, without needing access to the artefact itself. You may only have one such Evocation at a time, but can swap between existing ones during Reconfiguration.

CURRENTLY INSTALLED
* Calamity Trigger (Cadenza)
  • Community Spirit

You form bonds with communities that will accept you, and to whose purpose you can lend your strength! Connie gains a three-dice bonus to attacks when fighting to avenge or correct injustices to her community.

Resonances: Soulsteel

ANIMA EFFECTS

  • Dark Presence (Passive)

Connie can intimidate trivial targets without a roll. She gains her Essence in automatic successes to attempts to intimidate or frighten non-trivial targets.

  • Shroud of Fear (Active)

Anyone who targets the Soulsteel with a Close Combat attack must make a reflexive integrity roll against difficulty 3 on Step 1 before any other effects are rolled, or the attack fails and must target someone else.

  • Steel's Rebuke (Iconic)

The Alchemical reduces enemy Soak by half her Finesse, rounded up, on Step 7 when she targets them with an attack.

The Rite of Reconfiguration

An Alchemical's Universal and Alchemical Charms take physical form as pieces of god-machinery installed in her body. When purchasing a new Charm, the player may opt into the Rite: a ritual in which her community assists in the installation of a new power. When you chose to engage with the Rite, this counts towards an Exalt Milestone. If you have learnt an Evocation through Living Artefact, you must undertake the Rite to swap it (you may still learn Evocations normally).

Removed Charms sublimate into the Alchemical's Essence. You can manifestant any you have removed in a blaze of anima if you wish to reinstall them. With access to at least two of the following, you can spend a dramatic or recovery scene to retrofit your Alchemical body, equipping augmentations and replacements:

  • Ritual space and magical infrastructure, consecrated by your community.
  • Trained attendants, accustomed to the Rite's prayers.
  • A friend, ally or confidante to whom you have an emotional connection (Intimacy).
  • Sacred reagents, carefully prepared for you specifically.

The Great Curse

Incitement

  • Someone acts against her Major Intimacy.
  • She acts against her Major Virtue.
  • A community she has an Intimacy toward is threatened, ignores her advice or openly disdains her help.

When Connie succumbs to the curse, she switches to a Crisis Behaviour which lasts for the indicated length.

Crisis Behaviour (pg.88-89)

  • Gathering Procedures (Scene)
  • Necessary Instruction (Session)
  • Revolutionary Reactions (Session)
  • Supplementary Paranoia (Scene)
  • Universal Threat Detection (Scene)

MERITS

  • Artefact (Primary)

Cadenza: resembling an enormous Firewand forged from the blackest Soulsteel, Cadenza is more akin to a ‘man-portable’ ballista. Firing solid metal stakes at thunderous speeds, it was built to deliver justice and vengeance from afar. Comes with affixed orichalcum bayonet!

  • Ally (Secondary) Exagryph

The much maligned God of artillery. A theoretically powerful but ultimately low-ranking deity due to the conspicuous lack of actual artillery in Creation. Connie being one of the sole exceptions...

  • Command (Tertiary)

A handful of Bit Swarmers, typically nested underneath Connie's armour. In Combat, they deploy and encircle her, providing semi-autonomous fire support. Almost sentient, their sea-song chirping is a stilted though understandable language.

EQUIPMENT

  • Heavy Armour
  • A large case for Cadenza. Has space for a suite impossibly fine tools and plenty of cleaning supplies.
