Hollan Seti, the Baron of Metal

Main Page

Appearance: An image of Seti in his birth Chancel

Though Seti is a robot, he still needs to eat, breathe, and sleep just as much as any Noble. Only, he eats oil and electricity, his breathing is his cooling fans, and his sleep is a standby mode. Likewise, though he has no organs to break down under the wear of time, his parts will, nevertheless, begin to malfunction at the same rate as any human Noble's body.
Seti's Inhuman level of Aspect means that his body is divine essence, not simple metals. Therefor, he may guise just as easily as any Noble, and his oil works for blood in the Servant's Rite.

    • Metalwalker 1 CP (Seti is able to merge with any metallic object he can touch and travel near-instantaneously through that metal in any unbroken line, regardless of size. This is a Lesser Change of the Self)
      • 6 (Domain)/Simple/Self Only/One Trick/Uncommon
    • Midas' Gaze 2 CP (Seti can transform organic objects into living metal with but a glance. This does not kill the organism, nor affect its ability to function as a normal specimen of its species, it merely transmutes all instances of flesh into a living, metallic substance. It does not affect Powers or those with Power-like protection (Anchors, Imperators, etc.). This is a Lesser Change of Organic Beings (broad estate))
      • 6 (Domain)/Simple/One Person/One Trick/Uncommon/Broad Estate (x2)

Misc.

  • 1 - Hollan Discu, his "mother"
In Seti's eyes, the Estate of Metal is all about endurance. Things made from metal are things that are meant to endure years, if not centuries, of time.
Seti used to communicate with Gene back when he still lived in the Locus Ezkahiel through the internet, though he never allowed Gene to know that he was a robot. Seti respected Gene's seemingly endless wealth of knowledge and his skill with computers. In time, a friendship formed. Seti's dedication to Gene's wellbeing is the closest thing to 'love' the robot has ever experienced; which, apparently, was enough for the Servant's Rite.
When Seti attempted to publish a historical essay in an online editorial, Richard Lawe appeared to debunk and discredit his article. Seti was furious; how could such a learned professor not see that sphinxes were responsible for guarding the secrets of the desert from the Egyptians? The text and the evidence were right there! Dr. Lawe and Seti sparred many more times after that, always disagreeing over past causes and effects. Seti loathed him, but respected his experience and resources enough to turn him into an Anchor once he was enNobled.

Villa Hollan

Seti's estate within Locus IX is located directly between the arenas and the industrial district. The building is made of a platinum-like metal (the actual alloy has never been known to man) and appears to have been grown, rather than built. The mansion resembles a slender flower whose petals are just on the verge of unfolding. Within, Seti is served by an array of monkey-shaped robots. These monkeys appear to belong to all different species and are fully sentient, if not incredibly intelligent. Whenever Seti leaves his mansion, he seals the entire complex, seamlessly. Should an intruder attempt to break through, they will find the walls denser than any metal on earth. Should they succeed, an Estate-driven divination will alert Seti, who can then turn the building against the erstwhile invaders.

Within Villa Hollan, Seti keeps a library of all the historical texts he has collected, including a great many he has annexed from the Chancel's libraries when he arrived. The library is still mostly empty, but Seti refuses to shrink it down to its proper size; he prefers to see his goal in front of him.

Allies

  • Senators

Graucus Aurelius owns Vulcan Advanced Robotics Systems, or 'VARS.' He idolizes the Power of Metal in an almost god-like fashion, and prays to him daily and before every session of the Senate. He sees in Seti the grand deification of everything he has dedicated his life to.

He despises Henri Rosenbaum to no end, however. He believes the Chancel should run as smoothly and efficiently as the robots his company creates, and it infuriates him that one of the Power's entire goal is to muddle that efficiency up as much as possible.

Cornelius Magnellius Antonius III does not believe that any machine, whether divine or no, could ever equal a human. He does not believe that Seti-or any of the Chancels robots-are truly sentient. Thus, he sees Seti as fundamentally flawed and, therefore, easier to manipulate than the other Powers. For this reason, he pursues Seti's interests in the Senate with a passion. For, he reasons, if he is to one day control the Baron of Metal, should he not do all he can to make sure Seti becomes the most powerful of all the Chancel's Nobilis? (For this reason, Antonius is both for and against Seti)

Ari Chellos is the most advanced supercomputer on the Ninth Hill. Created by a joint effor of VARS, the Collegium Machina, and the former Power of Metal, Ari takes up the entire top floor of the highest tower in the Collegium. Every semester, a new student is chosen to link directly to Ari and become its avatar. Only two years after its creation, Ari was unanimously voted to the senate.

Ari dislikes Loto, though for nothing the boy has done. The previous Power of Voice was asked to give Ari a voice but refused, saying that computers did not deserve the honor. This is why Ari must use an avatar. It has carried over its dislike to the new Power, Loto.

The current avatar is a female graduate student named Chellos. Her proper title in the senate is "Senator Ari Chellos."

  • Champion

Joss Fraunheimm is the warrior who champions Seti's interests in the arena when the Power choses not to do so himself. Joss is a large man bred from a family of fighters; he could use a sword almost before he could walk. Over the years, nearly every part of his body has been replaced by cybernetics, such that only his brain and a few central organs are still original. He is a dirty fighter, who will stoop to any level to win, but he knows how to please a crowd.

Joss was not actuall Seti's first choice, but is evidence of the sway Antonius III is beginning to exert on the Power. Joss is sponsered by the senator and, as such, when Joss gains popularity and does well in the ring, Antonius' interests improve.
