Grei is the youngest child of the Earl AuBrannian, who fell out of favor with the court half a decade ago. When the house fortunes fell, so did the children: Grei's older siblings were either married off or, in the case of her two brothers, placed in armor and eventually sent off to fight in whatever minor conflict was flavor of the week.
