It's Mama. As you probably know by now, we needed money for repairs and Papa's sent it. We will repair our ship well enough to come home and after that, you and I will get our hands dirty repairing our girl the rest of the way. It will be fun and you will get to see our new ship as few others will ever be able to.  I can't wait to show her to you and I know you will like her as much as I do. She's a Durance class ship. When I get home, I expect you to tell me what you've managed to look up on the Durance class. You may be dirtside, but you can still learn ships when you’re there.<br><br>

We have a new kitty as part of our crew. It's a boy-cat Arden has named Jahn. It's supposed to mean "Shiny" in Chinese. He keeps to himself mostly and is very much Arden's kitty. But I suppose if you are nice to him, the kitty won’t mind if you pet him. You'll just have to find him first—he likes to find places to hide.<br><br>

In fact, it's because of our kitty that we've found a hidden compartment aboard our girl. We've since put it to good use as a machine gun turret and I will show you how it works when I come home. There are other surprises on our girl that date back to the war and I will show you those too. Don't touch anything, though. Some of the secrets we've found are a little unstable and I had one go off on me. Nothing to worry about, just mind what you see and treat it with respect.<br><br>

''Equinox'' has a holotable in her conference room and I admit I've been guilty of playing games on it. It is also top notch for running 3D schematics, too, and I've been guilty of playing with those as well. Other amenities on our girl are a dumbwaiter between decks and a hangar bay where we keep our shuttle ''Lagniappe''.<br><br> 

It's a decommissioned military shuttle, Firgin class, 30 tons.  We picked her up during a salvage job and she handles nice and sweet. And I'm sure Joshua will tell you, she’s outfitted with three abseil lines, complete with automatic suits. Maybe you can get Joshua to tell you the time he abseiled down to a foundering yacht in heavy seas when we were on New Canaan. Nika handled the piloting. Maybe you should get them both to tell you how they did it. We couldn't have saved those people without those two doing what they do best. We should light a fire in the little fireplace behind the house, pop some popcorn, and have them tell the story with the stars overhead. That would be a wonderful way to spend an evening, don't you think? If you ask Nika politely, I think she'd even take you for a ride in ''Lagniappe''. She's a great little shuttle and Nika can make her do some amazing things.<br><br>
