Background

A privileged scion of a noble family, trained at Sun Zhang Military Academy and skilled enough to leave her training cadre after only a single term. Mikoto was assigned to the 1st Sword of Light, serving in the same lance as Akira Isu, a relative of the Coordinator’s wife.

Unfortunately, Captain Isu was far from the finest example of the Dragon’s virtues. During a battle against Davion forces, he froze, unable to fight or even give orders. Their lance was all that stood between them and the company’s dropship and the attackers had an artillery mech. Mikoto seized the day, acted, rallying her lancemates and forcing a stalemate against the heavier force until the rest of the unit could wheel around and take them from behind.

It was impossible for such a high-ranking noble to disgrace himself. Thus, Mikoto fell onto the sword of dishonor. Or rather, was pushed. Akira’s cowardice and incompetence were ascribed to her, while her achievements were credited to him. She was stripped of her rank, ejected from the service, her father committed seppuku to erase the stain on the family’s honor that remained even after she was disowned. Mikoto was now a ronin, a samurai without a master.

Assuming an an obvious alias to protect what remains of her family and putting on a helmet that conceals her face, she has begun a warrior’s journey, acting as a duelist for hire, hoping to accomplish a feat so great it will dispel the lies about her prowess, showing the truth the only way she can.
