This Arc

Immediately Durgaz recognizes what must have been the mutiny. Dorns grasped both orc slavers and dropped them just as the ship rammed into the other. This was followed by dwarves, who had used their knowledge of metalcraft to break their chains, went to beating the orcs to death. The group quickly unlocked each other and set upon capturing the mercenaries left on board. The claims of many orcs killed and monsters on board were the dwarves' attempt at bravado to ensure that the visitors wouldn't underestimate them.

Before...
As they rowed, the dwarves and dorns would occasionally break out in song. There were always interrupted by whippings from the slavers, but by using a hierarchical code (words of certain importance grouped with words of lesser importance break up the sentence structure so that leading words spread across an entire stanza go together, and are followed by underling words) within the song they were able to let each other know the plan of how they would capture the ship.

Before...
Just a few days prior, Jædr and the rest of the crew of slaves aboard the 'Spear were corralled through the dockyards of Fallport. Along the way, dwarven slaves that worked nearby took notice and occasionally, one of the group being corralled would trade places suddenly with a working dwarf as the crowd passed. This was only possible due to all of the dwarves being equally skilled in the work and able to pick up where the other had left off, and due to the orc slavers not caring to attempt to tell the dwarves apart. Once on board, Jædr and Kilent both looked back up the hill and nodded to another dwarf being beaten severely. Jædr turns to Kilent and says, "May we honor his sacrifice." Kilent replies, "We know they'll be ready - now it's up to us."

Before...
Jædr is involved in a scuffle in the slaves' quarters. It is a filthy place mostly covered in refuse. The dorn attempting to fight him keeps speaking Norther, but occasionally calls Jædr a "clanless pathetic one." During the fight, a well-muscled dwarf wearing no more than the rags of the other slaves steps out of the crowd and raises his hand. In a calm and kind voice he says, "He is of the Dorshatr clan - his claim is true. And yes, he is pathetic. As we all are who fight for pride alone." Kilent translates to the dorn, whose fists are still wrapped around Jædr's neck. Both scrappers let go and stalk off in disgust, though Jædr is disgusted with himself. The other dwarf approaches and they talk; Jædr calls him Bromar and shows him great deference.

One Arc Ago

During their labors Jædr walks across the top of a massive steel-plated building, making sure the fixtures are secure and the bolts are tight. It is in the Fallport dockyards, and the noon sun is startlingly hot. He fans himself by lifting his beard a few times to get air underneath, where the paler color of his skin can be seen. There is a human down below asking the orcs when the stone will be added.

Before...
Within very tight quarters, Jædr is turning a wrench, cussing at another dwarf to pull his weight. The other says, "Why try so hard to make sure this bilge is water-tight if it's just going to be used by orcs? Let them sink, I say!"
Jædr replies, "As the general says, you never know whose brother or mother will be retained as repairmen. We build it as if it were our own until told otherwise."
