Ruarc, half-Cimmerian smith

Name: Ruarc

Description: Ruarc’s father was a Cimmerian mercenary and his mother was the tavern owner’s daughter. Ruarc was the culmination of a very drunken night for all involved. When Ruarc was born it was clear that he was his father’s son. Light skinned for a Zamoran but dark skinned for a Cimmerian, Ruarc never really fit in. Thankfully the local blacksmith was a drunkard that owed Ruarc’s grandfather money. Ruarc was apprenticed to the blacksmith and was soon as good if not better then the blacksmith. As people realized that Ruarc was as good as his master they started to come to him to get work done. One night in a drunken rage the blacksmith attacked Ruarc with a sword that he was repairing. The fight was short lived as was the blacksmith. Ruarc punch the blacksmith once knocking him back into the anvil. As the blacksmith fell he hit his head on the anvil and died three days later. Because Ruarc was able to do a better job than his master, the town covered up his participation in the blacksmiths death. Ruarc has been working as the town blacksmith ever since.

When it was found out that the town was too be raided most of the parents with promising young children sent them away. What they did not do was warn Ruarc. They figured that he along with some of the "lesser" children would be enough to placate the raiders. Luckily for Ruarc he was secretly meeting Zora, the daughter to the chief scribe and broth of the headman of the village. It was his and the headman's decision to keep Ruarc in the dark. Ruarc left town in such a hurry all he was able to grab was his trusty blacksmith's hammer and the clothes on his back.
