Take fairly normal green ivy, old wooden cords of it, and make it into a snake, not like some child's toy, but rather bunched tight together, acting as muscles, and then make it bleeding a dark red sap, that smells of blood, dripping like a steady rain. Each drip though bursts into sickly green flame as it hits, burning nothing but itself.
