Summary

Gagaur is the god of the underworld within the World Tree campaign setting. Gagaur is worshiped by creatures and monstrosities of the Underdark, Abyss, and Shadowfell and is described as having a reptile or serpent head carrying a skull.

According to ancient texts, Gagaur created mortality and fear to counter Ra-Orn's creation of life and sentient beings.

Origin

During the battle between Vareus and Katasis, it is said that Vareus "cut out the heart of Katasis and cast into oblivion" where it was able to grow and recreate itself. Katasis, with her final moments, separated Vareus in his moment of glory and pride into his three true selves (the brain creating Althum, the heart creating Nazuma, and the spirit creating Gagaur). When the Material Plane was formed by Gielel and Hasdum, the heart of Katasis still battled against the veins of Vareus, forming the Feywild and the Underdark as the battle raged. When the war had ended, each piece of the two deities created the current greater deities, with Ra-Orn ruling over life and nature and Gagaur ruling over death and his domains.

'Gagaur conspired with Nazuma and Althum to choose their respective dominions. Gagaur created Gehenna, Hades, and Carceri, each parallel to one another and used as his and his creations domain to torture and harvest the souls of those they capture. To rule these realms, Gagaur created Belvarax and Tobarum, twisted abominations that feast and feed upon the demons and creatures within in hopes of being freed by Althum upon the Material Plane. After completing these realms, Gagaur then created Althum's war machines, Golammor and Krazak, to seek retribution on the other deities, demanding sacrifice of his demon spawn in return.

Gagaur has no interaction with the Material Plane, but many of his minions attempt to ensnare those who dwell their for his own creations and sustenance.
