Twins Salts in the Northeastern-most region of Rodari

An overland map of Twin Salts.

Origins[edit]

Almost every inhabitant of Twin Salts is familiar with the ancient stories if its beginnings, every city and town takes great pride in their land and its history.
The story claims that ages ago, before there were cities and kingdoms, the lands were plagued by hobgoblins. A particular hobgoblin tribe had captured two twin boys from the south and after their families and town were massacred, the boys were kept as slaves. These two boys, Jir Salt and Thishea Salt, had an apparition one night. While most of the tribe was asleep, this apparition guided them away from the camp and the hobgoblin guards unnoticed. They then met with a very powerful wizard, whose origins were never discovered. This wizard granted them immeasurable magic powers. With their new powers, the Salt twins decimated the hobgoblin tribe and drove out every single hobgoblin from the region. They then split up and each created a settlement that flourished beyond imaginations. But the power came back to haunt them. The wizard that had previously granted them the powers returned to strip them of their powers, claiming that their tasks had been finished and that their powers were too much for their untrained minds to handle. The twins both refused, and arrogantly challenged the old wizard. They were both defeated, but upon their death, they created such a powerful explosion that caused craters in the earth, thus creating the Bay of Jir and Thishea Lake. It is rumored that deep underwater, the ruins of the old cities can still be found. It is also believed that the wizard's explosions caused the sea to become salty; this is also the explanation to why the waters of Thishea Lake are salty.

Inhabitants[edit]

Although humans are the most common race in Twin Salts, halflings, dwarves, dragonborn and various other races are often seen in cities and establishments in Twin Salts.
Elves are the second-most prominent race, due to the proximity to Elven territories just North of Twin Salts.

Government[edit]

Twin Salts strives on trade, many cities here are wealthy and have their own government and for the most part, the lords of each cities are in good standing and help each other in times of need.

Cities and Towns[edit]

Darmuth[edit]

The citizens of Darmuth have always been on the edge, the town has been conquered several times by several powerful lords from Kolto, only to be liberated by the communal Twin Salts army, formed by Lord Quelein with the help of the other region's lords.
Darmuth is a trade hot spot because of it's proximity to Kolto and the Elven kingdom of Tin'ela.

Trivol[edit]

This city is the largest and most prosperous in Twin Salts. Trivol is run by Lord Quelien who has tried in the past to unite Twin Salts, this has allowed him to have a large amount of followers and an even larger amount of enemies.

Calten[edit]

Calten is a prosperous mining city, it is located on the western part of Twin Salts on the foothills of the Ebony Mountains.
The city has been built in a way to encourage maximum efficiency, travelers rarely come to Calten unless it is to find a mining job or to trade. From a visitor's point of view, Calten is hard on the eyes, with their plain rock walls and minimalistic approach to architecture. Many dwarven miners can be found in the city, and a few have made a name of themselves as minor lords, that being said, humans are the majority of the population and the town is run by a human lord.

Bulwar[edit]

Bulwar is one of the richest and most flourishing cities in Twin Salts, perhaps only second to Trivol.
It is located on the Bay of Jir, its success can be attributed to its good standings with nearly every town in the region, especially Calten. Bulwar's government is quick to deal with any entity that disrupts trade in the area, as demonstrated by the "Hanging of the Black Scythe", a mass execution of every member of the "Black Scythe", a criminal organization that thrived on extortion and bribery.

Serpentine[edit]

Located on the southeastern most part of Twin Salts, Serpentine is almost recognized as a frontier city, due to its proximity to uncivilized lands and constant pirate attacks.
Its military is arguably the strongest of all the city-states of Twin Salts. Although there is a large presence of highly trained warriors in the city, there is no shortage of crime. Due to the many corrupted lords, the city faces a large economic and social gap between the rich and the poor. There is a common saying in the region: "Come to Serpentine with a purse full of gold, find yourself in the streets getting old".

NorthHollup[edit]

NortHollup is a small town, located between Bulwar and Calten.
The town's inhabitants are mostly rejects from the two neighboring cities. There are many exiled or on-the-run criminals, minor merchants who couldn't make a name for themselves elsewhere, plenty of mercenaries who make a living from the passing caravans and a few minor lords who have been cast out of their city due to rivarlies.
