==Guild Charter==

The Pig and Whistle Society is...

*A social guild which supports rpg.net members, friends and family
*A guild which exists to give like-minded players an avenue for their particular game enjoyment to intersect, converse, and group together to achieve goals, quest, level, PVP and do raid progression at a reasonable pace.
*A guild which upholds the ideals of "Pay it forward" and "Don't be a dick".

We ask members of the guild

*To be mature. If you have a concern, please bring it up with an officer or mentor. 
*To be friendly.  Please help your fellow guild members. 
*To be supportive. Be patient, and impart what you've learned about the game.

==Guild Philosophy==

This is really important.  As mentioned above, the guild has the ideals summed up as "Pay it forward" and "Don't be a dick".

The very best moments in this guild are when people are willing to help each other out, because they want others to enjoy the game.  Helping others is really the lifeblood of the guild.  The more people help each other out, the more people are made happy by that help and ''pay it forward'' to others, the more we will all have a positive and harmonious experience playing the game.  

This isn't always easy to maintain, but I know that you can all do this.  Help keep this an awesome guild, or make it even better. 

The flip-side of that is, ''don't be a dick''.  Pretty simple, really!

==A List Of Things To Know==

* The P&W is mainly made of tabletop gamers, and their friends and family. We began on the forums of rpg.net, and a lot of us are active posters there.
* The P&W is not a RP guild, but you need to pick a name for your character that matches roleplaying expectations.  (Please see below.)
* We like it when people type full words and sentences. We do not like leet speak and text message abbreviations.  (Also, see below.)
* The guild is run by the Guild Master (Aylfric), the Officers, and Mentors, in cooperation together.
* You need to join these forums or be a member of rpg.net to be promoted to the second rank and access the guild bank.
* The /rpgnet channel is for almost all messages.  Guild chat is for linking items and in-character conversations.
* The guild bank has tabards and bags for you! Also gear, food, crafting supplies, and other useful items.
* We will help you buy your mounts when you hit levels 20 and 40.
* We run dungeons together all the time.  Use the forums to coordinate runs!
* Know the guild loot rules.
* Be proactive and get more out of the game!
* The Vent info is listed in Guild Information in the game.

===About Names===

Names matter. Or, you could say, we're a bit concerned about names. Kirin Tor is a roleplaying server, even if little roleplaying goes on there, and a lot of the Pig & Whistle Society is made up of rpg.net forum members, and the guild continues to exist to serve that forum's community. In general, we expect players to pick character names which sound like actual names rather than forum IDs. "Squeakybob" wouldn't go over so well. "Bob" would be fine. Of course, "Bob" is a pretty boring name, but it's clearly a name. If you're stuck, try using the random name generator on the character creation screen. You may have to hit it a bunch of times to get something you like, or you might see something which inspires you to come up with a similar name that you really do like. 

We're not jerks. You may see some character names in the guild which skirt the edge of this. That may well be because people heard about the guild and paid money to transfer their characters over to Kirin Tor to join us, and in that context it'd be rude to tell them to rename their characters if there is only a slight problem with their names. 

It should be noted, though, that it's a bit of a guild pastime to share and groan over some of the bad names that other people pick for their characters on the server. 

There is a little more leeway for a couple of character types:  gnomes tend to have silly names, so somewhat sillier names are allowed.  But there is a point at which an officer may say they feel your suggested name is just too silly; if so, please try to think of something else.  The second category are death knights, who have gone through the process of becoming part of the Scourge and then becoming free; they might choose a different name at that time.

Some suggestions:
* Please don't use accented characters in your name.  It makes it impossible to easily type your name.

===Language===

We encourage everyone to use as full English as possible when talking with other guild members, because it's how we communicate.  If you usually use a lot of "netspeak" in online chat, we ask you to please reconsider that when with the guild. A lot of us are older, and have an averse reaction to netspeak.  Trust me: you'll get a better reaction from the guild if you don't use as many online abbreviations.

On the other hand, there are a lot of WoW acronyms and jargon which are common and useful, so they are accepted.   If you don't understand one, ask and we'll be happy to spell it out.
