The characters all receive invitations, virtually summons, to appear in Cornelius Johnson's court.  Zadie and Carolyn arrive in Evangaline's stretch Mercedes, while Renny, the Author, and Irina arrive in Eliza's vintage Cadillac.
Francine, the court Deputy, pats down the women, and finds a gun in Irina's bag.  Cornelius is called over.  To demonstrate his displeasure, he shoots himself in the chest with the pistol, and leaves the flattened slug on the ground.  Demanding to know who brought the person with a gun, he backhands the Author nearly into torpor.
Various offensive exchanges take place, and generous insult is served up for the new arrivals.  Snarky responses are made, and the group is deputized to help Francine find the parties responsible for killing local vampires.
The first step is to go to the house of Dr. Murphrey, recently deceased Tremere.  His spirit was trapped in the house by some sort of Arabic/vampiric totem drawn on the mirrors.  Renny allows himself to be possessed, and the vampire shade attempts to attack the Author.  Everyone is a critic.
Through a series of pieced together clues, the party determines the identity of one of the ghouls responsible.  
Arriving at Martha Walsh's house, Zadie discovers Martha and her husband asleep in one room, the ghouls' children in other rooms.  Francine masks the sounds of the alarm.  After being overheard betraying the party, Zadie snaps Martha's neck.  Her husband rushes the children into a room, and shoots himself dead in the hallway.  Zadie calls Willie Mae to collect the kids, and Francine calls Midnight to tell him the children are escaping.
Willie Mae arrives in one direction, Midnight in the other.  While Midnight terrorizes the neighbors, Willie Mae loads up the kids and the group, and takes them to the Cabbage Rose.  Francine informs the group that Midnight will be by tomorrow.  Three skulls, or he kills everyone in the group.  Willie Mae poisons the children, and the group breaks up into various knots of terrified and weeping victims of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
