=Background=
After Lai Siu Lung and I were awakened from our VR we both ended up on Mars, that being the where our VR facility was. Specifically we ended up in Noctis-Qianjiao. Having no place in society and no funds, we both retreated to the D-Side. My focus has always been research, but having no funds I was forced to rely on the Medical training I recived before Awakening.

The Little dragon and I stayed in regular contact. He would come in and get drugs and supplies from me, the occasional patch up when one of his jobs went sideways. I in turn would ask him to acquire components for the drugs, or some piece of equipment vital to my research. Then it would magically apear a few days later. There was credits involved of course, noone D-Side does anything for free, but I like to think he helped out of mutual respect. We both went threw the same thing, suffered the same torments in that VR hell. We never talked about it though. I find that a little strage now with the passage of years, but I guess everyone deals with their issues differently.

I quickly became a well known, in D-Side, doctor that didnt ask question and didnt charge much. Any credit I did make that didnt go toward basic living requirments went toward my passion, Genetic Research. The first thing I did of any note was modify a rat to be able to follow basic commands (go here, hide, grab that, etc) and contained a Mnemonic recorder that I could download later. I was testing this out in the Pembroke Gardens by having it record random converstations.

One conversation I recorded happened to be rather benifical to me in the long run, though it was rather harmful to me at the time. It was between several members of an orginization I now belong to but shall remain nameless (Conduit). They were planing how to steal some blue prints from a local Hyper-corp. Of course I didnt know that before I left, and did not realize I had ben followed home either. They arived shortly after I got back and had just started to download the conversations from the rat. Just expecting a customer I set the rat in his cage and went to the front room. I dont remember much after that other then the pain, and waking up with my friend Lai Siu Lung kneeling over me checking my pulse.

He helped me up and to my stash of pain killers then explained that he was dropping of a package I had asked him to aquire and as he opened the door he startled two thugs beating me to a pulp and shot at them causing them to bolt. The number of people who now call me friend is un countable, well not really but it is not worth the time. The number of people I can call friend I can count on a single finger. The Little Dragon saved my life that day, and I dont know if he would call me friend, but there it is. I owe him my life and can never repay that. I try by paying him twice his standard rate for jobs and offering my services to him free of charge, but wish I could do more.

A few weeks after that incident a member of the nameless orginization aproched me and appologized for his underlings behavior. He explained what they were about and said they were always looking for skilled researchers. I didnt take long to agree, they funded some of my research and all they asked was I give them a cut of any profits I made. Was a good deal for me.

In the years that followed I have become one of, if not the, leading Genetic Researcher in the system. I design and build some of the most sought after designer morphs in the system. I also tinker in other areas best left unsaid. Achiving this level of noteriety while still a member of a not so leagal orginization has been an interesting feat in social menipulation. Gaining a great repuation with RNA and the Guanxi was fairly easy as I kept releasing my research and providing services.

One of my papers helped some Eco group pass some law or something and since they have asked me to help in some research here and there, fairly boering stuff really but it does provide a nice destraction for my free time. Pay for this type of work isnt all that great, but hey it can pay to have friends in this feild. They bring me some of the coolest new animals to study from out world and beyond the gates. These animals are critical in my research that is best left unsaid, the fact that the research I share helps them get protection laws passed makes them happy as well.

One of the first custom bio-morphs I released was a modified Exalt morph that had gossimer wings from one of the previously mentioned animals, purly for asthetic reasons. A minor celeb was sleved in it for some event and she was kind enough to drop my name when others asked who designed it, now I get more design and appearnce requests then I can fufil my self, so anything that isnt new or novel I pass on to a firm that has ties to the orginization I work for.

The custom morph field does occasionally lead my to other interesting research. One client who went to great pains to remain anonymous and I didnt care to dig tooo deeply into asked my to develop a Bio-morph immune to and who could secrete at will a specific nerual toxin. After the client no longer had a use for the morph I released a research paper on how to detect and counter said neural toxin. I released the basic design for some nanophages that should in theory netralize the toxin, though I never tested it. This research was picked up by some hyper corp after a rash of their employees were killed by said toxin, and they have asked me on occasion to do similar research for them, I am under strict NDA for any of that work, and since this work does pay well I am careful to follow the letter of the NDA.
