''The hemisphere spanning continent of Onam'Aval is a land of ridiculously disparate environments, cultures, and races. In the center, the great Athasian desert taxes the resources and resolve of the humble people while corrupt Sorcerer-Kings drain the little remaining life with their magic. To the far West the Consortium of Great Houses rules the land of Eberron in practice while figurehead princes fight amongst themselves for prestige and the scraps from the table of ever growing industry. In the South the so-called Forgotten Realm of Toril is home to gods walking the earth, magicians of mythic power, and warriors who are unmatched in their skill (as well as their ennui). The Eastern lands are divided between the Knights of the Lance and the City of Pain ruled by a queen who guards her trade routes jealously.

And tucked away in a little visited monastery a group of orphans from all over the continent will discover a destiny for a quest that will lead to a mission that will affect the entire world.

Several centuries ago a group of Githzerai monks accidentally transcended the bonds of the Astral Sea and were deposited in a desolate mountain range surrounded by snow, cliffs, and small isolated villages of hard people. The monks decided that it was the will of the universe that they come to this new place and began building a home for themselves. Their first years were hard but they captured wild goats for food and clothing, raised hardy crops during the brief summers, and spent the majority of their time in meditation. Their isolated existence came to end when a lone hunter stumbled onto the stone monastery after losing his way in the storm.

The monks cared for his injuries, fed him, and sent him on his way when the storm had passed. When the summer came, the man returned and begged to be taught by the monks so that he may repay them for their assistance. He became their first convert in this new world and slowly their numbers grew. With this growth came much more involvement with the outside world, trading, teaching, and helping the less fortunate. It was because of this that the monks found a group of orphans, abandoned by the wayside by bandits who robbed their caravan and killed their guardians. The poor folk of the villages couldn't care for the children and the monks, taking pity, brought to the monastery and raised them as their wards.

Since then the old monks have died one by one until only their ancient leader remains. Venerable Hosjan is on his deathbed and has called the young adults to his side, a final confession before his spirit passes on to the next world. Perhaps these are the answers the adopted orphans have been wanting all their lives.''
