Money buys booze and smokes. Food and a roof over his head are nice too, but those other items come first. Anything left over after that means he didn't have as good a night on the town as he thought he did.

"Names' Taug," the red skinned monster says as he lights up a cigarette and blows a cloud of foul smoke into her face. "Saw your posters up for yer lost cat. Found the little bugger'bout six blocks from here. Next time you might wanna put in your sign that she's a mean old fart that likes to rip the flesh from yer hand when you grab 'em." He holds up his hand to show several deep gashes.
