=Mindy= {| class="wikitable" |- ! ! ! |} It would be unfair to call Miranda deWitt two-faced; she has many faces, many masks to show people what they want to see, but her deep-seated need to feel included doesn't carry any malice or intent to deceive. She just wants people to like her. Fortunately for her - sort of - she's pretty good at being what people like and looking like what society expects. Mostly at least. It can get exhausting though. And she's not the hardest person to manipulate. Good for her she lives in a town where a freshman cheerleader dating the JV girls' volleyball captain doesn't raise more than a murmur, though finding out that Beth didn't want to try a long-distance relationship as she left for college made for a long, depressed summer. Fortunately she has her friends. Her real friends, the ones that just nodded along when Shaira (elf Bard 7/Rogue 3) went through a grunge rock gothy phase and Emily the vampire lounge signer bloodied it up (she's a Daeva obviously) - and Mindy kept dressing the part on game nights, of course. Oh and also Hannah, who is kind and strong (in a pretty sort of way, too) but would probably just smile and nod at the previous sentence while having no idea what it meant, but was supportive about the breakup. Hannah's... really nice. If only she didn't keep mooning at football boy... Hannah's the only one not in the gaming circle who knows about the hobby that makes her pretty much disappear some weekends, or about her secret instagram account, too. When it's not because of cheerleading, at least. Mindy started assembling her own cosplays after making her own costume for a middle school play, and 'cosplay model' is her dream job. Everyone at school finding out would just make things super-weird, though, and she doesn't want to deal with that, or what people would start calling her. Even though her instagram is totally SFW because duh, there's still that possibility people would start rumors. And she just can't deal with that. So it's very, very secret. For the benefit of her cosplay, she knows which way the pointy end of most weapons face, and she's taken more than a few self-defense classes because her parents are anxious about that sort of thing. Speaking of her parents, they're nominally supportive, though her mother is absolutely allergic to idleness and has infected her daughter with that same urge, and her father thinks she'd have a better time making money if she made robots or something instead of costumes. She's an only child, which is part of why she clings to social companionship so much. She also doesn't really advertise that she has a solid mid-A average, with social studies, literature, and of course art as her best subjects and chemistry the only thing she's struggling to stay above a C in. She's never gotten why some people are proud of skating by with crappy grades and not learning anything. Her own perfectionism would just not let her do that. Far back enough that she doesn't remember it clearly, she was one of the last park patrons to go through the haunted house in Suncoast Amusements. In the dark, cluttered old rooms, she stumbled on a 'scene' of a clown flaying a mannequin of a ringmaster - at least she thought they were both mannequins - until the clown turned and slashed at her. The knife just passed through her, but it felt cold, so cold, and she didn't stop screaming until she'd sprinted all the way though. Nobody believed her, and the room where it happened was empty in the layout at the time - she shouldn't have even been able to get there. Mindy still have a full-blown phobia of clowns, but only clearly remembers the incident in her nightmares. Whether it was a ghost or some other sort of nasty spirit in there... the GM only knows. And when she finds out actual vampires suck way more than their Chronicles of Darkness counterparts, she's going to be so disappointed.
