''After five litters of squirming runts and three discarded husbands, the acolyte was delighted at last to give birth to a true uz. The girl was big and hungry, draining three teats in a sitting. The acolyte was able, finally, to become a priestess.

With time though, the big baby became a so-so sized toddler who tripped over her rote-learning. Weak she was, unable to hold her own against the others. So she was sent off to a cousin, atop a mountain, to train to be a Norag priestess, out of sight and out of mind. Eventually rumours crept back to the clan that the girl was an enlo after all. The priestess could not live with such tall tales, ao, the girl was given to Norag one icy winter, and forgotten about.

Some five score years later, in a hot summer, the ice atop the mountain melted and Bogdana was freed from Norag's mantle.''
