== History == After President Kennedy approved the Sleeper Ship Project, not to be outdone the Germans and Austrians did the same. Five years after the U.S.A. launched their Sleeper Ships, the Germans and Austrians launched the ''Deutschland'' and the ''Austria'' Toward the Rim and Trailing part of the Orion Spur. The ships made it to two habitable planets which they dubbed the systems '''Brandenburg''' and '''Stieirmark'''. Since then, German influence extended out to four more systems dubbed '''Bavaria''', '''Saxony''', '''Vienna''', and '''Carinthia'''. For a time, they tried Fascism, but Fascism didn't work so they turned back to Capitalism and Free Enterprise. After contact with Sol was lost, the German and Austrian colonies united under one government. That government was headed by a Kaiser, the Austrians' wish; but the Kaiser would be held in check by a Reichstag; the Germans' wish. To prevent the nightmare of Fascism from rearing its ugly head again, the Deutschlanders abandoned the Philosophy of [http://www.marxists.org/reference/subject/philosophy/help/mach1.htm Positivism] and embraced Reason and Liberalism. Currently, the Deutschlanders have a treaty of Non-Aggression with the Republic but they don't trust the American-descendants for the simple reason that the Deutschlanders are involved with a border dispute with the Scro that might erupt into a full scale war. In dealing with the Dispute, the Kaiser had signed the Privateer Laws, allowing their citizens to apply for a Letter of Marque to legally pirate Scro shipping and Scro Military.
