==Background== Brisia. An island kingdom famous for its merchant fleet. King Roland Carstone, a decent if somewhat weak-willed ruler. Queen Katharina, a renowned patron of arts. Heir apparent, Princess Alicia, a lovely girl who everyone expected to make a fine Queen eventually. Prince Jonas, two years younger than his sister, smart but shy boy expected to devote himself to either religion of science after Alicia produces a heir. All in all, not an utopia, but certainly not the worst place to live. Or it was, until about a year ago. Admiral Tyrus Ross, military minister of the kingdom, never liked King Roland, and made no effort of hiding that. Unfortunately, he also was unquestionably the most qualified man for the job who had proven his tactical genius more than once. Still, no one ever expected that dispathy to lead to an actual revolt… Tyrus stroke on the day of Alicia’s coming of age ceremony, using the event to fill the capitol with soldiers loyal to him under the guise of the honor guards for the procession. The fight was short and brutal in its result. King and Queen, dead. Princess, presumed dead. Prince Jonas took the throne, but no one doubted that it was Ross, who appointed himself a regent for the underage prince, held all the power. No one could imagine Jonas as a ruler in the first place. As for Alicia… she escaped by miracle, taking the identity of her maid who was less lucky. The next year she spent in hiding, slowly coming to terms with the fact that her parents are no more, not daring to reveal herself, since Tyrus Ross certainly wasn’t a man to leave business like that unfinished… At least here in Veria, his reach will be limited. And the position of the royal maid would allow her to meet many highest-ranked nobles, starting, of course, with the heirs themselves - and, perhaps, eventually find allies she could trust with her real story, allies powerful enough to help her to retake her country - and her brother - from Ross. Sometimes, she even believes that herself.
