Satou Makoto was an ordinary 16 year old high school girl in Tokyo when one day she was summoned to a fantasy world in order to defeat the Demon King. Despite her protestations that she was just an ordinary 16 year old high school, OK, she was a kendo club member. OK, OK, her family ran a kendo dojo and her grandfather had been a famed swordsmith. OK, OK, OK, yes, her grandmother always had these outlandish stories of growing up in a fantasy world as an elf before fleeing through a portal to Japan. But she was completely ordinary!

She was given the Sword of the Hero and the Armor of the Champion and pointed toward the Demon Realms and told to just stop complaining and do her job as a Hero already if she wanted to go home. With a resigned sigh she went on her way, gaining companions along the way, a Sorceress, a Holy Woman, and a Thief. Together they fought through the armies of the Demon King, into his great Citadel of Shadows, and confronted the Demon King. Or, well, intended to, but it turned out that the Seers had gotten it wrong and the seal on the Demon King was still strong, and probably would be for at least another hundred years.

She returned to the kingdom in secret and applied for a job as a simple palace maid, since she didn't really want to be a soldier or a general, or fight people at all really, and didn't have any way to go home to Tokyo. And besides, she always like cleaning and baking sweets!
