==Background==

Shade Everdark (It's a much more normal name in her homeland) was in all respects a normal girl, well as normal as being a member of a Dark Elf tribe that descended from demons, so in all honesty she wasn't normal at all. However she was happy and satisfied with her life. However, when crusaders from the Verian Church came to exterminate them all (claiming to have demon ancestors will probably do that). Surviving by a mere chance Shade was left alone, in the ruins of her small village. From that day on she swore to have revenge against all of humankind, eye for an eye, if you will. For that she studied all the forbidden forms of magic in order to have her vengeance. However the first time Shade tried that she was defeated by Makoto, and had most of her power sealed. The girl however had one of her companions heal the wounds the Dark Elf received from the battle and was ultimately a kind person who seemed to think Shade had potential to do great things.

Now Shade has become one of the royal maids for precisely one reason, the hidden levels of the Royal Library, that ought to hold some kind of way for her to ether regain the power that she lost or to become even more powerful than before. However, with the kindness that she had seen Makoto posses, does she really want to waste her second chance at life on something like vengeance on the entire human race?

Shade is a naturally withdrawn person, with no one of her own tribe alive anymore (as far as she knows) she has decided to forgo relationships in order to focus on a single goal. However, no person can go their entire life like this, so inside she actually really desires some kind of companionship. She usually makes snide remarks about humanities faults, but is willing to complement people that have done something impressive in her eyes. She also usually lets her magic handle the work for her (as long as she doesn't think she's being observed) and keeps her demonic ancestry hidden, simply stating that she's a Half-Elf.
