=Valentine Fletcher= Valentine Fletcher was born in 1911 as the youngest son to a family who had already too many mouths to feed in one of the poorer parts of London, England. Being nimble and clever and lacking access to formal education, it was not long before he began what he thought would become a rather successful career as a cat burglar. Fate, however, had other plans for him in store. He got a tip-off that a lady who was living on her own and was rumored to dabble in the occult would be an easy target for someone who knew what he was doing. This information was slightly inaccurate, however: not only was the lady not alone, she was also one of the Kindred. Impressed by how far the mortal thief had been able to come, she offered him a choice: be killed on the spot or accept the blood bond and work for her instead. Valentine chose the latter, and even though he was her subordinate, their arrangement proved mututally beneficial as the thief enjoyed enhanced physical abilities as well as certain other benefits the existence as a ghoul provided. Valentine had only been a ghoul for a couple of years when once again Europe stood at the brink of war. At first, his mistress paid little attention to what she thought of as "silly mortal squabbles", but when it became apparent that the German madman would stop at nothing to bring his plans to fruitition and England would soon be drawn into the conflict as well, she finally decided to act. It was mostly Valentine, however, who organized not only the shipping of her most precious belongings but also the ship passage for the lady (securely stowed in a heavy wooden box) and himself. Everything went better than expected, and when both of them had finally settled in her new household in Cambridge, Massachusetts she rewarded him for his faithfulness by granting him the Embrace. In the years that led up to Valentine being recruited by the OSS, after his training and induction into the Ordo Dracul, he again acted mostly on his own, only forming temporary alliances in order to succesfully complete a heist. His loot consisted of items of an occult nature more often than not, either as requested by his sire or, as time went by, more and more owed to a growing curiosity for the occult in himself. Eventually the relationship to his sire cooled down a little since she either could not or would not teach him anymore. Looking for a new goal, recuitment by the OSS served him just fine, for the Nazis are rumored to have acquired not only a few interesting artifacts themselves... artifacts that are only waiting to be "repossessed".
