==Background==

Jahyris grew up the second son of wealthy noble of Harrapa. Early on he developed a fasincation for swordplay and strategy, and worked hard to become the best he could at both. He was always overshadowed, however, by his elder brother Layndarat, who seemed blessed by the gods by almost supernatural strength and speed, not to mention charisma. Resentment built up in him as he tried to gain the praise of his father who devoted all his love and devotion to his elder son, despite that son's great character flaws and the amount of moneys he had to pay out for the maintenance of the vast numbers of bastard children he left all over the place.

Finally having enough (after Layndarat had 'accidentally' left he stranded in the wilderness), Jahyris left Harrapa in order to make his own way in the world, out of the shadow of his older brother.
