=Hyno= [[Image:Hyno.jpg|frame|Hyno the animal companion]][[Image:Zipponra.jpg|frame|Zipponra the familiar, now deceased]]'''Animal Companion''' at rank 3. Two ranks from heroic path, one rank from druid level. '''Riding Dog'''
'''Medium Magical Beast''' (3rd rank Animal Companion)
'''Hit Dice''' 6d8+12 (52 hp)
'''Initiative''' +3
'''Speed''' 40 ft.
'''AC''' 21 (+3 Dex, +8 natural), touch 13, ff 18
'''Base Attack/Grapple''' +3/+8
'''Attacks''' Bite +8 melee (1d6+6)
'''Face/Reach''' 5 ft./5 ft.
'''Special''' Low-Light Vision, Scent, Trip
'''Saves''' Fort +7, Ref +8, Will +3
'''Abilities''' Str 21, Dex 17, Con 15, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6
'''Skills''' Jump +11, Listen +5, Spot +5, Survival +8/+12, Swim +6
'''Feats''' Alertness, Track
'''Tricks''' 6 + 4 bonus
''Devotion (Ex):'' The animal’s loyalty to its master is such that it gains a +4 morale bonus on Will saves against Enchantment spells and effects.
''Evasion (Ex):'' If the animal is subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, it takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw.
''Scent (Ex):'' This ability allows the creature to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.
The creature can detect opponents within 30 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 60 feet; if downwind, it drops to 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at triple normal range.
When a creature detects a scent, the exact location is not revealed – only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a partial action to note the direction of the scent. If it moves within 5 feet of the source, the creature can pinpoint that source.
A creature with the scent ability can follow tracks by smell, making a Survival check to find or follow a track. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10 (no matter what kind of surface holds the scent). This DC increases of decreases depending on how strong the quarry’s odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. The ability otherwise follows the rules for the Track feat. Creatures tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility.
Dogs receive a +4 racial bonus to Survival checks when tracking by scent.
''Trip (Ex):'' A dog that hits with a bite attack can attempt to trip the opponent as a free action without making a touch attack or provoking an attack of opportunity. If the attempt fails, the opponent cannot react to trip the dog.
''Carrying Capacity: '' A light load for Hyno is up to 612 pounds; a medium load, 613-1,224 pounds; a heavy load, 1,225-1,720 pounds. '''Tricks Known'''
''Defend ''- The animal defends you (or is ready to defend you if no threat is present), even without any command being given. Alternatively, you can command the animal to defend a specific other character.
''Down ''- The animal breaks off from combat or otherwise backs down. An animal that doesn’t know this trick continues to fight until it must flee (due to injury, a fear effect, or the like) or its opponent is defeated.
''Fetch ''- The animal goes and gets something. If you do not point out a specific item, the animal fetches some random object.
''Guard ''- The animal stays in place and prevents others from approaching.
''Attack (see below)'' - Normally, an animal will attack only humanoids, monstrous humanoids, giants, or other animals. Teaching an animal to attack all creatures (including such unnatural creatures as undead and aberrations) counts as two tricks.
''Stay ''- The animal stays in place, waiting for you to return. It does not challenge other creatures that come by, though it still defends itself if it needs to. '''Bonus Tricks:'''
''Attack ''- The animal attacks apparent enemies. You may point to a particular creature that you wish the animal to attack, and it will comply if able.
''Heel ''- The animal follows you closely, even to places where it normally wouldn’t go.
''Track ''- The animal tracks the scent presented to it. (This requires the animal to have the scent ability)
''Seek ''- The animal moves into an area and looks around for anything that is obviously alive or animate.
